Pain - Deva Path Updated


Just wondering' date=' for Negato if he is placed in the Spell/Trap card zone, why would you have an effect decreasing his ATK? Why not your Life Points?

He is controlling them by himself, so if a part of him dies, he loses ATK. Just because it is in the Spell and Trap card zone dosent mean it cant be attacked or attack.

I like what's happening so far. Just a couple of things I have to criticise though. (Areas in bold are bits I think need some rethinking or editing)

 

[spoiler=Nagato Review]

For Nagato, the first bit is fine and cool; the last sentence I don't quite get.

 

"You can add 1 card with "Pain" in its name (except "Negato, Controller of the Six Paths of Pain") from your Deck to your hand by paying decreasing this card's ATK by 200."

"Paying decreasing?" A typo perhaps? Or a missing word? I think I know what happens, you decrease his ATK by 200 points to add 1 of the Pain bodies to your hand, right? Well, regardless of whether my interpretation is correct or not, that sentence needs fixing. Besides that, he is fine. I like what you're doing with the Field Card Zone btw.

 

 

[spoiler=Problems with Pain's universal effects]

Ok, my next criticism is universal to all of the Pain bodies. It's with the bit about Nagato being selected as an attack target. Nagato cannot be attacked because you have to summon him to your Spell and Trap Card Zone and a monster there cannot be attacked. Also, I'm sort of wondering about the point of decreasing Nagato's ATK when the bodies are destroyed, as well. I mean, I can see where you have got it from and that's cool but if Nagato cannot attack or be attacked then there doesn't really seem to be any point, does there? What about if you made it so Nagato got destroyed when his ATK hits 0? Just a suggestion.

 

Another problem is the grammar with one of the sentences in your Pain body cards. The following is slightly incorrect:

"If this card is destroyed, decrease 1 "Nagato, Controller of the Six Paths of Pain" you control's ATK equal to the Battle Damage"

I think the sentence would be better expressed as the following:

"If this card is destroyed, decrease the ATK of 1 "Nagato, Controller of the Six Paths of Pain" you control equal to the Battle Damage"

 

 

Now for the individual effects of the Pain bodies:

[spoiler=Deva Path]

The effect itself reads fine but I'm not sure what it has to do with his ability. It is a hard one to do though, I'll give you that. I don't think I could do anything there either so don't worry about that.

 

[spoiler=Preta Path]

Then, Flip a coin. Flip the coin until you get Tails. Decrease the selected monster's ATK by the number of Heads x100, and increase this card's ATK by the same amount.

Wouldn't it be better said as "Then, flip a coin until you get Tails."? (I don't know whether flip is meant to have a capital or not but I'm sure you do). Other than that, the effect is fine.

Oh, also, "1 monster your opponent controls"; not "control".

 

 

[spoiler=Human Path]

Once per turn, select a monster your opponent controls. Then, Flip a coin ● If Heads, remove the selected monster from play ● If Tails, you lose Life Points equal to half the selected monster's DEF.

This isn't really a necessary change, but if you want to make this sentence grammatically smoother, it should be made as the following:

Once per turn, select a monster your opponent controls, then Flip a coin ● If Heads, remove the selected monster from play ● If Tails, you lose Life Points equal to half the selected monster's DEF.

This change can also be applied to the above card if you see fit.

 

[spoiler=Asura Path]

My problem here is the same as with Yuri's Zaku. If you want to say this effect you would also be better off using the one from Ultimate Tyranno. I think it is the clearest way of saying it:

If this card is in Attack Position at the beginning of your Battle Phase, first, you can and must attack all monsters on your opponent's side of the field once each with this card.

Although, feel free to change the bit about having to attack and attacking first if you wish.

 

[spoiler=Naraka Path]

I can't really say much on this until I see that "King of Hell" card.

When this card is Summoned, Special Summon 1 "Konan", a card with "Pain" in its name (except "Nagato, Controller of the Six Paths of Pain"), or 1 Beast or Reptile-Type monster with "Giant" in its name.

First off, you don't specify where you can summon them from, please change that bit first. Secondly, I'm not quite sure what exactly it is saying. To me, it reads like you can summon either; 1 Konan and 1 Pain OR 1 Beast or Reptile-Type monster. If you actually mean to say you can summon; 1 Konan OR 1 Pain OR 1 Beast or Reptile-Type monster, then you need to say:

When this card is Summoned, Special Summon 1 "Konan" OR a card with "Pain" in its name (except "Nagato, Controller of the Six Paths of Pain") OR 1 Beast or Reptile-Type monster with "Giant" in its name. (When I last saw at Yugioh cards, 'or' was written as 'OR' in situations like this. If that has changed at all please let me know)

 

 

Last but not least, we have Konan.

Only problem is that you haven't put any stats for the the Paper Clone Tokens. That is all.

 

 

Some quite significant mistakes here and there but that is only to be expected when you are trying something so different, unique and creative. Please don't see this long, critical analysis as me trying to undermine you in any way. I know it isn't always easy to take such long criticisms (I can be quite bad at that myself, hehe) but I am only saying this so you can make your cards as good as they can possibly be. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this. Your mistakes aren't even around OCG, it's more to do with plain old English grammar. Just so you know, you get A's for effort and creativity and I will gladly be a regular visitor to this thread of yours.

Checked out Itachi and Susanoo. I'm not too sure what to make of Itachi's effect at the moment. I'm not 100% sure what to do on it at the moment but I will take some time to think on it and let you know. Susanoo seems a bit too powerful in my opinion. Its currently too easy to get Itachi on the field, get a Mangekyou Counter, Special Summon Susanoo (you don't say from where, so if you change this things might seem different) and then get the 2 equip cards. My main problem is having both; 1. The last effect of Susanoo, "When this card is equipped with both cards you added to your hand, this card can attack in Defense Position and 1 "Itachi Uchiha" you control cannot be destroyed by battle or by an effect of a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster Card." AND 2. Having their effects work so smoothly. Only go for one or the other in my opinion. I'll probably need to take some time to think on them. I'll see if I can let you know before I go away on holiday. Nevertheless, those Japanese cards are cool.

Oh, btw, my Japanese isn't very good but I'm pretty sure Pain's name is written in katakana.
