Self Drawn Card Images?

Felix

Recommended Posts

I'm doing some. YCM does not yet know my godleh skills. If I finish one every day or so, I should get the whole set done in 3 ish weeks. But then I'll need a scanner:/ I'll take a photo of them at some point.

I'm starting off with a base image and some guidelines, pencil them in. Over that in Unipin Water Resistant; a 0.1 for the most part. When that done I'm either painting them with water colours or colouring in with water soluble pencils.

Anyway:

What do you think they add to a card?

Have you tried it before?

If yes, what did you use to do them?

Show them off.

lol, traditional media? Intense.

Reasons why you should do self art for cards:

-Greater control of your card (base the card off your IDEAS, and the IMAGES)

-You'll have the exact pic you're looking for

Reasons why you shouldn't do self art for cards:

-I don't consider anyone here actually good enough to pull it off. It looks bad.

We'll see how yours turn out. Simple fact that you have actual art supplies instead of freaking Rose Art pencils is a good sign though.

I draw my artwork, but then I edit it with photoshop for the epicness.

There are some people that are good with drawings around here: sleepy (but maybe with a bit of photoshop the drawings would look better), Nickdl (but is not good drawing hot females) and Nikkiboy too.

BTW: Guide lines are for rookies.

Whenever I draw' date=' I draw sketches in black and white. The moment I add colour it looks terrible.

[/quote']

How do you colour it? There are a few different ways you could try and one of them you might like,

Photoshop - Didn't work, I don't have a tablet.

Coloured pencils - Smudge horribly and don't blend with each other.

Water colours - Horrible watery mess with bad blending.

Poster paint - Let's not even go there.

Marker pens - Leave no detail unharmed.

lol. I color PS w/o tablet. It's doable.

Get better colored pencils.

Try pastel, if you like blending, you'll jizz at this stuff.

Pastel is good for blending and they give full color volume. The only problem is, if you even as little as smudge it, its all over. (><)

Thanks Felix. Still improving since I'm not that good yet. (^_^)

I'm not particularly good at it. At least, I wasn't last time. It might be worth practising again. I never know what coloured pencils to get. =/

Also, rule 34.

If you're using Rose Art or Prang colored pencils, shoot yourself. Get Prisma.

I've never heard of Rose Art or Prang. I'll try Prisma if I can find some in local shops.

Thread needs some Fuzzie. He kinda founded the self-drawn.

Yeah' date=' but his self drawn images aren't that good.

[/quote']

true..:/

Dude, Fuzzie's awesome.

As for me, I don't have much of a problem taking other people's art and usually make my cards based on an image I've found as opposed to the other way around, so even after all the copious amounts of cards I've made, I've yet to do this.

Did a couple existing Yugioh Cards in pencil and they turned out pretty well, don't have 'em on hand.
