Well, what I like about them is the plot really, I like a good plot, because the usual turn-based strategy is very boring when you have to grind through the same battle over and over again. Except boss battles, I always like a good boss battle.

But of course, there are other aspects that make the Final Fantasy games amazing. I really loved the graphics and voice acting for XII, and despite everyone hating him, I thought Vaan was pretty cool. The gameplay is obviously a large factor in it too, or else I wouldn't keep playing them. xD

While I admit Doco is very inappropriate alot of times, he's still a very nice person. Hell, Lar, me, and basically every other person in this thread is very inappropriate at times :/

FF XII was a nice game, the only problem is that there is very little variance, every character can use every weapon, armour, spell and skill in the original game, the only differences is the quickenings and espers.

@Brokenheart: Well, they can only use the weapons and armours you buy the licences for. If you really wanted, you could probably limit a character however you wanted. Although, I don't really see the advantages of that.

The License Board was a good idea in theory, but really, it just makes the character too versatile, like the Sphere Grid from X, that was also the same general problem.

But at least in X, you couldn't really break your characters too badly till the post-game - there weren't enough Level 3 and 4 Key spheres during the main game to break into all the other grids.

 

Unless you farmed for hours, which just makes any game easy anyway.

True, but you CAN still get a good number of lv 3 spheres from the Zanarkand Dome, and I';m sure some beast in Sin drops lv 4

I can be picky on what makes an amazing game. There's the story, the gameplay, the difficulty, the characters (particularly the main ones), the audio/visual quality, and how "mature" it can be. The depth Final Fantasy can go into with all these is what is amazing, despite how I got into the series through Kingdom Hearts, which apparently I originally thought was stupid.

I like my characters versatile. Then I can use them based on personal preference, rather than having to choose based on their abilities. Perfect example is how I got pigeonholed into using wakka for ranged in X.
