Okay, thank you people for creating mass hysteria! ;D Now I can commit mass homicide and everyone will think its 2012.

Mayans never predicted anything like a change in the human mind OR the end of the world. The Mayans put stress on the number 13, like we do today, such as the Friday the 13th being an "unlucky" day. Mayans also measured their calendar in Baktuns, a length period of about 493 years, and the years around 2012 are the end of the 13th Baktun. The Mayan Calendar has dates up to 4772. Congratulations, Western World, for incredibly hallucigenizing the world. Thanks.

Then we'll die a few decades later.

lolno

Not really.

The closest thing we have to a complete wipe-out of Earth is in approx. 1 billion years.

And eventually the government will deal with overpopulation by killing the sick.

And we will slowly ween ourself off of fossil fuels. And stuff and stuff.

2 Things.

1. I need to add sarcasm tags to stuff. Like, half of what I say is sarcasm.

2. You do know that the government could have been lying to all of us about setting foot on the moon. If you don't think so, give me proof that is not government-related.

You're starting to really make me mad by thinking you're better then everyone. Get your act together than leave this thread.

But I am better than everyone. D:<

1.) I didn't turn on my sarcasm detector today. Sorry about that. D:

2.) ...the government said nothing about killing the sick. I was going to pitch that in when I become famous.

This isn't going to get stickied. If it did' date=' that'd be stupid on the mods part.

Thank God the "Official Relationships Thread" wasn't stickied. :)

+1 for the mods.

Thank who? :O

Actually they did. The rest of what you said is true but there did have that creation myth about the mother goddess and Xibalba. Xibalba as the dark rift in the milky way. That's where in 2012 the mother goddess will give birth to a god and lead to the beginning of a new world era. That's their explanation of the planetary alignment and of the end of that calendar. An era made of Baktuns ends, a new one will come.

The New Age religion took it further and made an entire ecological/astrological programm about it. New World Age, Age of concience, etc. Way to make people idealists and eco freaks.:?

And of course the 13th Baktun part adds some more... tragicness to it.:)

Nostradamus predicted the world would end in 2000' date=' he was wrong.

[b']Nostradamus predicted the twin towers disaster, he was right.[/b]

Not all predictions are right, you fail if you say the world will end in 2012.

You can predict anything if you are vague enough.

Big fire in the sky. Many people die. Hot flame burst into air. Sad day.

I predicted the Twin Towers, I predicted some forest fires, I predicted some intentional fires, I essentially predicted everything to do with fire. In four sentences.

Totally on-topic. ^_^

You just said that to a mod. Isn't that instant permaban?

Truly Stupidness = Permaban

I could guess so. Eh, well goodbye.

The Mayan Calendar says nothing about an "age of awakening" on the end of the 13th Baktun. A planetary alignment. Even the Mayan elder admits that the whole 2012 is a load of nonsense. I'm just stating my opinion. Hmm, well if I am perma'd goodbye. If not, oh well.
