I also wouldn't get told off just because someone else disagrees or can spit up facts as though it matters. See? Japan is gonna be awesome.

 

Old people won't like you. And you'll be the center of everyone's attention wherever you go.

 

I know plenty of elders in Japan. I know all the formals and appropriates, and most of the time I have a translator if need be. I don't see where you're trying to go with this.

 

I wasn't trying to go anywhere. I was just saying that Japan isn't the greatest country on the face of the earth, and that you'll still have some problems no matter where you go. Basically, I'm a party pooper.

How do you know this? I don't suppose you can provide some sort of survey or source or show me a study you've conducted?

Not really they're mostly Synchretic. A melding between Shinto and Buddhist traditions.

Some forms of Buddhism are Atheistic but Shintoism is full of gods.=D

 

I agree many just keep up old traditions because they're traditions but there are more Atheist countries.~

The form of Buddhism most popular in their country acknowledges the existence of gods; but most Japanese people are Atheist and simply go to Buddhist temples and participate in activities there out of tradition. They don't actually praise the gods in their daily life (for the most part).

Yeah I agree it's mostly a country with traditions for the sake of traditions and no real beliefs for most.

But still I don't view it as Atheist as other Asian countries. Sure there's Atheism everywhere but I still think Shinto' date=' so Polytheistic roots are present.

 

Finland, Norway or Sweden.

Well I mean. If you WERE going to pick a religion to represent their country, Shintoism would be the obvious choice... But I mean... If a state mass produced peppermint, but also had a smaller chocolate factory, it's not going to be recognized for the smaller chocolate factory. Not usually.

If I DID give you a source, you'd blow it off most likely. The fact of the matter is; if you ask a foreigner of Japan what Japan's religion is, they'll usually say Buddhism (because of all the Buddhist temples and traditions based of ”神道”). If you ask a Japanese person what the religious stance of Japan is, they'll MOST LIKELY tell you "Atheist." It's the same principle as, "An atheist can celebrate Christmas."

 

EDIT: Jeez. Japan's religious ideas are hard to explain. But, to make things easier, Japan is mostly atheist. That's the easiest way to sum it up.

And that's great that you wanna be a party-pooper, Willeh, but I can overlook the few problems Japan has. =3 Everywhere has problems. And Japan honestly doesn't have that many that are even worth noting.

 

I'd also like Canada, and perhaps London.

 

Also, I wouldn't mind having all eyes on me in Japan - I live for the stage, after all.

Japan is really a pretty nice country. Their crime rate is very low, they're economy isn't doing as bad as America's (though it's still in bad shape), they have a lot of culture, etc...

 

You have to be fluent in Japanese to get a job there, though. Unless you want to be an ALT or something I guess... But you'd really be better off to be fluent in Japanese and get a work VISA or something. Besides, Japanese is a pretty easy language to learn.

Why is America cool? America seems to enjoy killing people and occupying countries.

 

No country is "cool" or "uncool." Every country is just neutral until a person develops an opinion on it.
