Duelling with your cards – The Card Testing and Custom Format Thread

YVD is little more than an electronic backdrop for during ACTUAL duels.

It's not a video game. Just like a real duel, you have to do EVERYTHING yourself, but unlike a real paper duel, you have tools there to help you out and make things go a little faster.

Everything you do in a real duel is essentially done by command and as far cheating, it's NOTICEABLE as the program will tell you the actions of your opponent.

Rolling a Dice is usually Crtl-D

Shuffling your deck is normally Crtl-S and so on.

If he's looking at his deck, the program tells you in the chatbox; same with basically everything else, from shuffling to rolling a die to looking at the Graveyards. However, things that involve YOU that you can't just look at, he has to get permission, it will prompt you to give it or deny it. Usually for a card effect, you'll obviously be accepting it as it's necessary. Otherwise, he usually won't have a reason to look at your hand or your deck or Extra Deck.

In short, if the opponent is cheating, at least you will KNOW about it and respond the same way you would if they were cheating in real life.

Hmm. Interesting. So YVD is more like a real life Duel but on the net. One more question though. Is this program limited to a Peer-2-Peer Duel, or there are a Server that can we use for Duel (like Battle.Net, Warcraft, etc)?

If a player sees card not found while duelling someone else it means he/she does not have that card in his/her set file. You will need to make sure prior to duelling that the two of you have the same set file so that you don't any errors. Although this one of the limitations to YVD it also provides the greatest flexibility.

It's peer-to-peer though you can dl hamachi and use that if straight IP Addresses don't work.

Sounds like your version is outdated' date=' people duel via the server now, connecting is easy.

if we use peer-to-peer, we don't need worry about "card not found" when we play with custom card?

This is why I recommend you proxy, like use Shapesnatch and say "in this duel, we treat Shapesnatch as the card we're testing." Only add the customs to each other's sets if there's too many cards for you to remember the proxies.

Just refer to the other duel threads like HP Doom's or mine.

HP Doom's thread:

http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-185373.html

My thread:

http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/thread-185498.html

If you look in HP Doom's he got the code in spoilers so anyone just has to copy and paste it into their YVD set file. Though he only has code for a tuner monster.

My thread requires you to download the set file and the images but it'll give cover the majority of cards types so if you need references you can use that. You could also just download the real TCG set file from xerocreative.com and use that as a reference. It's pretty simple once you break it down.
