Freakin' Epic, one of the best in the series. It actually comes with two disks where you finish one then continue it on the other one.

Get a PS3 for the game then, as the PS3 version is far superior.

The plot is like this. There was some "Purge", which relocates people from a place called Cocoon to a place called Pulse. These people were relocated because the government known as Sanctum is worried that they may have been influenced in some way by something called a fal'Cie, and Sanctum does not want the people of Cocoon to be put into harm be these people. People "branded" by the fal'Cie are known as the l'Cie, and must carry out a mission known as a Focus. Those who succeed are turned into crystal (Which somehow makes them naked) and are granted eternal life. Those who fail became monsters. The main characters became l'Cie, and their mutual objective is to find out their Focus and complete it.

Oh, and I must say that Vanille is so annoying since she has an accent that either constantly changes or is not even in effect. It really ruins her character.

My friend got it on PS3 and was telling me about his adventures. He said it made him Orgasm.....but he also cited the serious lack of Side Quests.

Considering how much of them FFXII had, I don't mind this. I really don't care for such a large number of side quests.

*Looks at the thickness of the guide book*

But the main story does seem awfully short.

Oh, trust me. There's gonna be Side Quests. Hunts are reintroduced in this game, with you being able to collect the Focus from Cie'th crystals that have failed their Focus and take it as your own, basically giving you a new side quest. Most of these are hunts for rare monsters.

Also, I'm sure there are more. I'm only half-way through Chapter 4, and the story is still developing past the beginning stages, so it's expected that there aren't any Side Quests yet.

Improved graphics is the main reason, I traded my 360 version for the PS3 version and that's all I could see that was better. Blu-Ray is the best graphics engine to date.

Blu-Ray (what PS3 games are put on, as well as movies) holds a lot more and is more durable. Since it holds more, all that extra space can be used to improve graphics in the games or add extra content (a disk doesn't have a graphics engine idk wut your talkin about dude).

If you notice, FFXIII was put on 1 disk for the PS3 since it uses Blu-Ray, which can hold much more, but had to go onto 2 since the 360 doesn't.

*cough*not to mention the graphics had to be downgraded so the 360 wouldn't lag to hell when it was playing*cough*

EDIT: The ending is really nice. =)

I've been playing it reasonably infrequently, got it on European release date: 9/3/10. I'm on chapter 5, I think it's in chapters anyway, well I'm in the part where it's Sazh and Vanille and you control Vanille (who, by the way is really annoying). I was told I could avoid fights with creatures that were too hard, but obviously I ignored that and killed them. xD It wasn't hard, just a mixture of a few Paradigms; Slash and Burn, Symbiosis and I think I once used War & Peace. I've never owned a Final Fantasy game before, so I'm not missing the towns everyone's been talking; however I have played bits of XII at friends, and the towns I think did enhance the gameplay, but no real complaints here from me. Also, on linearity, which seems to be a problem to many, again I have no complaints, in some games I enjoy freedom, such as inFamous, but again no problem with the Linearity of this. Overall I have really loved it, and will continue to do so, I think I'm going to attempt to 100% this one, and get my second Platinum, my first being Assassins Creed II.

For those who care in any way, I own a PS3, and I'd just like to say this to the 360 fanboys who are anti-Blu-Ray, simply because Microsoft are cheap: HA! So no fanboyism from me, obviously...

So, thoughts... well, I'm not sure about it. Chapters 1-6 are an absolute chore, was really bored, but by Chapter 10ish it starts getting better. Story starts off very badly, but again, gets better. Music is meh towards the start, but gets better. The linearity is horrible at the start, but it is less linear towards the end. The characters are all fairly dull except for Snow at the start, but they mostly get better (except Vanille, who just sucks). The graphics are excellent, but the actual art design is fairly generic until much later in the game.

Basically, the trend is it starts out really badly, but gets pretty decent by the end. I think I prefer it to FF8, FF9, FF12, and especially the diabolically horrendous FF7, but I think I liked FF10 and FF6 more in the end.

I hope you were exaggerating on FF8 and 9. If not it makes me  . I'm just working on doing all the extra stuff now (getting ultimate weapons ect.) So far I don't have any...but I'm close, I've got a max level Ultima Weapon for Lightning made from Lionheart (saving up for Omega). Also, the damage limit is driving me crazy, I guess that's why there's an award for doing over 99,999...since the limit is 99,999. So I guess I've gotta go do all the stone missions with five stars or something that takes a ridiculously long amount of time so I can get an item that lets me break it.
