"Through a duel, you are trying to bring out my heart." [Infernity Launcher + Mirage]

With the release of Shining Darkness drawing near, let's discuss these two AND where on the banlist they will be in September(?).

Infernity Launcher:

Once per turn, you can send 1 "Infernity" monster from your hand to the Graveyard. If there are no cards in your hand, you can send this card to the Graveyard to select up to 2 "Infernity" monster(s) in your Graveyard and Special Summon them.

Infernity Mirage:

While you have no cards in your hand, you can Tribute this card to Special Summon 2 "Infernity" monsters from your Graveyard. This card cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.

...Oh dear god. It'z true.

A 2 card OTK? F*ck.

Why can't Machinas get support like that D:

Let's elaborate what this OTK actually is' date=' besides summoning "Random strong Infernity monster". - Or is that all that it is?

[/quote']

Explain the rest then.

The first entry would be what you are looking for. It's not as much "random strong Infernity monster" as it is repeatedly summoning those monsters.

Infernitys are effectivly the same as Flamvells.

They sucked at first' date=' got support, and became meta.

2 things.

a) what is the best summoning set to make for the mirage otk? (I mean the end result.)

b) flamevell inferintys?

A) A TRUE INFERNITY FAN WOULD HAVE x3 INFERNITY DOOM DRAGON!!!!! The smart option, though, is maybe 1 Mist Wurm and 2 Trishula

B) Hmm...may be a good idea...

Mirage is just good.

About the OTK either Infernity Launcher or Archfiend should be banned since they are the main cards. I'm going to say Archfiend since a different version can still be done between it and Mirage and I'd rather ban the one card of the two.

I don't see either being banned. I'm sure Konami made this lulzy combo on purpose. One of them may more likely get semi-limited.

Aww, Infernity Gun got renamed...

*cough* On topic, I think "Launcher" is the problem more than Archfiend or Mirage. Although I absolutely love Launcher to death, it's easily the most dangerous card of the OTK issue, since unlike Mirage, which is a MONSTER, Launcher is a continuous spell that loads the graveyard, lowers your hand count, multiples can be used per turn, and can summon "up to" 2, rather than exactly two.

Mirage, on the other hand, requires you to have no cards in hand to use (uh, like all Infernity support), but it's a 0/0 monster that can't be revived from the graveyard, although this does not hinder it's ability to be summoned by other means, like One For One, nevertheless meaning it's practically a dead card if you can't reduce your hand fast enough, or don't have the space or setup to summon two Infernity. Launcher can wait around a few turns and be used at almost any time.

The OTK is to use Mirage or Launcher to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend and Necromancer/Beetle. Use Archfiend to search out Launcher and activate it. Then revive another Infernity/summon more Beetles. Then Synchro like mad. You can easily whip out level 8 or level 6 Synchros. Then use Launcher to do it again, searching another Launcher.

I think Archfiend is the best archetype searcher in the game, and should be left at 3. Mirage has enough stipulations to warrant being left at 3 (one stipulation being the use of the Normal Summon not easily able to be compounded several times in the same turn the way Launcher can). Infernity Launcher is a problem and I think it should be limited BECAUSE it can combo with multiple copies (albeit more directly through Archfiend).

Even at 1 it will still OTK. If something is to be done something will need to go to 0.

It's true that the OTK can still exist at 1, but it can't be spammed as easily in that case and all the support to exploit still require you being handless, something multiple Launchers enable you to reach at a high speed. The Chimeratech OTK still exists with Future and Overload at one, but it can't be spammed. Banning every card that creates an OTK is senseless. My stance is that Launcher should definitely get hit, but banning it also robs the Infernity deck of something that makes them work- a card that rectifies too many monsters clogging the hand, plus working off your monster tossing. Mirage isn't harmless, but it's not as abusable as Launcher.

Barring Infernity Death Dragon, all Infernity have low ATK and your hand will be empty, so you're relying on what's in your graveyard and field when activating effects.

Even if it isn't as easy it can still be done, and thanks to Archfiend it is still easy. And yes, you shouldn't ban all OTK, but something like this that takes only two cards where both of them are searchable makes this different. This goes for most OTK such as the Chimeratech. Remember when one places a card on a ban list they act like the current one isn't there.

3' date=' because Infernities are awful.

A 2 card OTK is anything but awful.

Fair point, the searchability does make it more dangerous than most OTKs...it wouldn't alarm me too much if something of Infernity got banned. Archfiend does have that amazing "if you draw it, Special Summon it. Oh, and now search something related to the theme and go nuts" effect, the latter part being usable with any time it's SS when your hand is empty. I can see Archfiend getting hit in some way, since Reinforcement of the Army got hit because of its versatile search targets. And with Infernities wielding Infernity Break, Infernity Inferno, and Infernity Force, they won't be exactly limited in terms of ditching cards to fuel devasting effects. And they do still have Necromancer for the revival.

I genuinely don't see Mirage the threat people make it out to be, but then again I admit I dont really like Mirage much compared to Launcher, primarily because, as I've already mentioned, Launcher is a spell that can help the Infernity Handless theme, rather than a 0/0 monster with only the revival effect. I can see Launcher getting hit before Mirage would even get touched.

Also, for those who think Infernity are terrible...have you actually tried using an Infernity deck, rather than taking their effects at face value? Those things are effective and make explosive plays from nearly nothing.

If only it was such.

Last I checked cards that needed to be in the grave didn't count' date=' or am I confusing that with the deck.

I'm not going to count something that requires many specific cards in the grave and the lack of a hand as a 2 Card OTK when the conditions are rather ridiculous.

Many?

Draw Infernity Archfiend with no cards

Get Launcher and use it to bring back Destroyer and another Archfiend.

Get Beetle summon and use it's effect.

You now have 1200 * 2 + 1800 * 2 + 2300 = 8300. You only need 1 card in your hand and 2 in your grave. Having no hand isn't hard if your doing Infernity right.

Discard up to 2 cards. Send a number of "Infernity" cards from your Deck to the Graveyard equal to the number of cards discarded this way.

That should cover it quite nicely, actually.
