Okay, I'm going to be away from the internet for most of the weekend, so I'll do another review when I get back Sunday evening or Monday. You can still post if you want me to rate something, just don't be upset if I don't respond :P

Well, I never did "request" a review per se. I was wondering if I could get another shot at starring here (seeing as "Godhand" brought this thread back to life :P), with my favourite card, that has gotten a fair share of "cool"s, "awesome"s and "omg sign my underwear"s. when I first posted it on the site. :P

Rarity is actually Secret Rare, but I thought after so much editing, holo effects would ruin it. I'm pretty proud of what I did with the image as is. ;)

 

Lore: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set except by Tributing 2 monsters. This card gains 1 Level each time a Spell or Trap Card is activated. This card gains 1 of the following effects depending on its Level: - 6-7: During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.; - 8-9: Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by a card effect, it is not destroyed; - 10-11: This card can attack twice during the same Battle Phase. Negate the effects of your opponent's Spell, Trap and Effect Monsters' effects that target this card; - 12: This card gains all its other effects.

 

I took out "Piercing damage" for the standard OCG. Come on, it deserves a review, the pic rawkz. Oh, and the effect. :P

Review time :P

 

Today I reviewed gphaku’s “Rust Marker – Long John Silver”

 

 

Effect:

When this card is summoned, select 1 other monster on the field. The selected monster is treated as a WATER Warrior-Type monster. When a WATER Warrior-Type monster destroys a monster by battle, increase the ATK of this card by 200 and inflict 200 points of damage to your opponent. When this card is destroyed, both players take damage equal to half the ATK of this card.

 

 

Now, let’s get down to business.

The effect starts off with an effect that happens whenever the monster is summoned, no matter how it’s summoned. A couple OCG errors dot the first sentence, but they’re minor. The effect designates another monster you control and gives it a new type and attribute, that of warrior and water. This is an interesting combination to say the least, and the remainder of the effect explains why this combo is used.

 

The effect goes on to say that whenever a water warrior destroys a monster by battle, Silver here gains ATK and also deals a little damage to your opponent to add a little spice to the battle ;). The real kicker, though, is when Silver gets destroyed. Whatever his ATK is when destroyed, each player takes half of it as damage. It could be quite a bite if several monsters have been destroyed by water warriors.

 

Looking at the effect as a whole, it definitely has a flow to it, and an interesting twist with the use of water and warrior together. Water warrior….water warrior…it’s just so fun to say :P. The effect seems pretty balanced to me, and the ATK is at Jinzo-level to start with and will only increase with his and the other monster’s attacks.

 

Ratings:

 

Name: 8/10 The first part is interesting, but doesn’t really make sense to me….

 

Pic: 7/10 Okay pic, but something still just makes me say meh.

 

Effect: 7/10 Flows, but still feels slightly choppy.

 

Grammar/OCG: 6/10 Several errors in the beginning, but they drop off as the effect continues.

 

Balance: 8/10 Seems mostly balanced, though the ATK could rise quickly if the other water warrior has high ATK.

 

Star sense: 6 - 9/10 Probably the best level for this card, though the stats are high in conjunction with the effect for a level 6 monster.

 

Overall: 45/60 or 7.5/10

 

All-in-all, a decent card with a very interesting effect. Hope to see more great cards from gphaku in the future :D

Well, I do have work and crap everyday so I don't always have time to do a review. In regards to other reviewers, I will ask Yankee if he's on sometime, but I don't know if it'll happen.

 

Since I didn't do any over the weekend, though, I will be doing another one today when I get home from work (provided there is another card made today that I like enough to review :P).

 

EDIT: I didn't really find any other cards I wanted to review, so the double review will wait for another day. I will be doing another review tomorrow for sure, whether I like the cards posted or not :P

Today I reviewed Dark Shini’s “Deck Dimension Demon”

 

 

Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned when it is added from your Deck to your hand. If this card destroys a Monster by battle, you can place 1 card from your hand into your Deck and add 1 card form your Deck to your hand of the same Type (Monster, Spell or Trap) as the card you placed into your Deck. Your deck is then shuffled. Activate 1 of the following effects, depending on the Type of card added to your hand:

• Monster: This card cannot Attack during your next Battle Phase.

• Spell: Discard 1 card from your hand. If the discarded Card is not a Spell Card, you lose 500 Life Points.

• Trap: You cannot set Spell or Trap cards during your next turn.

 

 

Now, let’s get down to business.

The effect begins with a very heavy restriction. This card can be summoned if and only if it’s added from your deck to your hand. That’s a pretty heavy cost, even with some of today’s cards. Though, once you get him out once that way, you can always bring him back from the grave with Monster Reborn. The effect continues with one big chunk that all happens when this card destroys a monster by battle.

 

First, you can put any card from your hand back in your deck and choose any card of the same type (Monster, Spell, or Trap) and add it to your hand. Got a Trade In in your hand, but no Level 8 monsters? Never fear, DDD is here. He lets you throw that useless Trade In back into your deck and pull out that Lightning Vortex you need to wipe out your opponent’s last defenses.

 

This, however, may not be the great gift it appears to be. Depending on what type of card you got from your deck, a different effect is activated. If it’s a monster, this card can’t attack once. If it’s a spell, you have to discard a card form your hand, and lose 500 LP if it’s anything but a spell. If it’s a trap, you can’t set any spells or traps during your next turn. Any of those could really throw you for a loop.

 

Overall, considering the effect and stats as a whole, it seems a little underpowered to me, even with getting any card you want from your deck. The negative effects based on what card you get, in addition to the monster’s relatively low stats for a 6 star monster, really don’t even out that well. I could be wrong, but I think the stats could be raised a little bit. Pretty good card otherwise, though.

 

Ratings:

 

Name: 7/10 A little generic, though not necessarily bad.

 

Pic: 7/10 Decent pic, though maybe not for a YGO card.

 

Effect: 9/10 Interesting, and a little brain-bending. :P

 

Grammar/OCG: 9/10 Didn’t I help you with this card? ;)

 

Balance: 7/10 Like I said above, I think this card might be a little underpowered.

 

Star sense: 6 - 7/10 A good level for the effect, but not for the stats.

 

Overall: 46/60 or 7.66/10

 

All-in-all, another great card from Shini. Hope this trend continues :D

When a Spell or Trap Card is activated, you can move this card to an unoccupied Card Zone. This card gains the appropriate effect based on the Zone this card is in:

-Monster Card Zone - This card cannot be destroyed by the effect of a Spell or Trap Card.

-Spell & Trap Card Zone - This card is treated as a Continuous Trap Card. Once per turn you can pay 500 Lifepoints to negate the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Monster Card, after this effect is activated place this card in an unoccupied Monster Card Zone.

-Graveyard - Special Summon 2 "Zone" monsters from your Graveyard. Put this back into your Extra Deck.

-Deck - Discard 1 "Zone" monster from your hand. Draw 2 cards. Place this card face-down in the Graveyard.

-Extra Deck - Add 2 Spell Cards from your Deck to your hand. Special Summon 1 "Zone" monster from your hand or Graveyard. Place this card in an unoccupied Monster Card Zone on your opponent's side of the field.

-Field Spell Card Zone - Both players draw 3 cards. Place this card face-down in your Graveyard.

When this card is sent to the Graveyard, put it face-down in your Graveyard.

I think that if their cards are good enough to be here they shouldn't ask for it, also for those who would say "I don't know how good they are that's why I'm asking you #$%$" well, this is not a normal thread and also this is not a normal rating, the judges takes thir time to grade EVERYTHING!!! and I think that they would know what cards should be here and what cards shouldn't.

 

And Darth Browarod congratz for being named as the new judge. :)

 

P.S.: Plz guys stop saying "Could you rate this?" some people could consider it as a spam. (BTW I hopes this post isn't considered as a spem, I was trying to help ;))

The problem with "Card of the day" is that it implies having 1 card reviewed every day. Like I said before, that would rock. I suggest again that you contact Yankee and ask for permission to "hire" other reviewers, so this can really be updated once a day.

 

Also... I think people shouldn't post cards here. The reviewers should skim the Realistic section for cards made on the same day and select 1 among them, because with all the "plz r8" posts this thread is becoming flooded with horrible cards and few reviews.

I will look into hiring another reviewer, but Yankee hired me with the knowledge that I wouldn't be able to do one everyday. I deeply apologize for that, and I hope that I can at least consistently do one a day M-F.

Welcome to Yankeefan's card of the day reviews thread. Here, the best created card will get a full review by me, Yankeefan, to judge and see if it is REALLY worth the hype. Some are, and some are not.

 

If you feel you are up to the test, the please, pm me your card. If I think its good, I will send it to my very good card rating judges. If they agree with it, then it will be tested to my standards ;)

 

So, go YCM's! Go an create as good a card as you can! As you can see, all the people that have had a review have gone on to be popular because there cards have stood up to a full review, and thus, they went to make more cards, even better. I'm not saying it's me, it's just the bragging rights to being the creator of the card of the day.

 

I will wait for you all to create your perfect cards.

 

I shall review a card today as well. But, here is a extra thing.

 

After today, even though I wont be here, I want EVERYBODY who thinks there card is good enough, no matter the day, or if this is locked to pm me the card. When I return, I shall do a 100% review on the card of the week, or heck, month. ^_^

 

 

More information:

 

In the near future, at the end of each month, I shall look at all the cards that have been reviewed, and, no matter what I rated it before, I shall proclaim a card of my choice as card of the month. Anybody still reading this is not going to get in my reviews, for they havent begun making cards yet ;)
