DARKPLANT RISING
The usability of this single card is unbelievably wide. It can be used in many a deck types, and another thing cool about it is that its TCG version pic is actually more cool than the OCG, which is rare. Look...C? Yankee
Sangan says hello. Also, the art of the Japanese one looks like a pumpkin.

Ghost-O
Witch of the black forest says hi Because she is so useful now!I should totally put her in my-oh... I get it. It was a traditional format reference. ^_^ Personally I prefer Sangan, because it's ANY monster with 1500 ATK or less. But Tomatoe is a good substitute in situations I suppose. GraveHorizon
So they changed the art to make it less scary, but that's what they come up with? Not much of a success; it looks like something I'd expect to see in a child's nightmare. And the original may look like a pumpkin at first, but you can tell it's a tomato if you look at it for more than a split second. Or just read the name. The names would be more appropriate if they were switched, since the original seems (maybe) a little spooky, while the TCG version looks like it will murder you and turn your family into pizza sauce. And it will always end everything it says with "see?". And wield a Tommy gun. On the subject of its effect: Yubel. I know there's other stuff, but I pretty much use it for Yubel on WC'09. DARKPLANT RISING
Sangan is better if you're running a deck that's not DARK, or it's used to get out the most Dishonest card ever, or something like that, but most of the time I prefer Mystic Tomato. Aximil
I personally prefer the OCG art. But I do agree that this thing can be used in such a wide range of decks and has so many purposes.
Toffee.
The origional artwork looks more like a pumpkin. That might be why they re-drew it.
Sephiroth_The_Legend
they were meant to call it Mystic Pumpkin. but it wasnt halloween so they thought a tomato might be better.
RyanAtlus
I like the fact that there's a Death Note reference in the Japanese name.

Dark_Armed_Zombie
I think what he meant by "searcher" was "recruiter" because Mystic recruits to the field while Sangan searches to hand.

Canadian
It's one of the best searchers because of its awesome targets. IMO, if dragon's had better support, Masked Dragon would be better. The only thing I dislike about mystic tomato is that they have to be SS'd into Attack Position.
GraveHorizon
I thought the whole point of it looking kind of like a pumpkin was the idea of "It's a Jack-o-lantern, but with a tomato." And real pumpkins are orange, not blood-orange, and they have lines on them. Has no one here ever drawn a pumpkin? If the face wasn't there you'd immediately think "That's a tomato." Maybe they thought American children weren't smart enough to tell the difference between a Halloween pumpkin and an imitation tomato (with "Tomato" in the card name).
