Battle Fader Rip-off #58345834 (Arbitrator of Meditation)

Recommended Posts

Card Yusei used in the most recent anime episode, only reason I'm posting it is because the chances of us getting it in Starstrike Blast are high since well...it's a Yusei monster, we get about 98% of those no matter how random.

It's like someone wants to make Final Countdown the meta IRL....

So its a nerfed battle fader...

It can be better because it protects your monster' date=' but it doesn't Special Summon like fader. I would lol if some one summoned fader, and the next turn used this.

[/quote']

Opponent attacks < Summon Battle Fader < Next turn opponent attacks Fader < Use this < On Your Turn Tribute Fader for Teva, they can't attack.

Proceed to lol at your opponent's frustration.

Final Countdown is just looking more and more appealing to me each day.

...but Final Count doesn't need any monsters on the field...

Why would I want to prevent my Winged Kuriboh from being destroyed?

Well I know you're the resident Final Countdown player here and a pretty respectable player from what I've seen and I agree with you that FC doesn't need monsters on the field but iunno, this seems like it'd make a decent tech to follow-up a Battle Fader or to draw out a Zero Gardna for another turn. I'm not a fan of Winged Kuriboh in Countdown myself.

Wait guys.

If you ran into a Mirror Force or something' date=' and you discarded this to end the Battle Phase, would the chain disappear?

That's pretty cool if it does.

[/quote']

it's an anime card, so I don't know, the closest card I think of is ether flashbang, which lets everything though since the effect must be activated at the post-damage-response chance, or the MTG card time stop, (http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/magic_single_card.asp?cn=time stop) which just plain out ends the turn, not the phase/step.

also, if final countdown becomes meta level, people will do one of two things.

a) run more counter spell cards

b) turn to burn damage since it's harder to stop, (1st game at least.) and with burn setup types like tempest magician, they can also be used to attack decently as well.

If this were in real life, it would probably be worded something like this.

Play this card only during the battle phase. Discard this card to negate the activation of a Spell' date=' Trap, or Effect Monster's effect that would destroy (exactly) 1 card on your side of the field, or the attack of a monster, destroy it, and end the Battle Phase.

[/quote']

Or something along those lines. By the look of the anime card however, it doesn't stop the destruction, just the battle phase.

Yeah, but going how it's worded in the anime, it wouldn't stop things like Mirror Force (since it has to be a single card) or Sakuretsu Armor (all that's needed is the declaration of an attack). If there is a card that destroys something during the battle phase (s/t) then the destruction is never negated and still destroys the monster, but does end the battle phase. It stops attacks if they would destroy a monster (assuming this can activate during the dmg step) but not s/t's. It also doesn't stop things that destroy stuff after battle such as Unifrog and Six Sam Zanji (vs. something with more ATK) and other such monsters since it doesn't negate the activation or effect.

Final Countdown can't become meta. People who run Normal Decks will just side it. Then if the Normal Deck activates it first due to what ever, lol hard at your opponent who just has stall cards.

And that's why.

This card will get nerfed, or konami is pulling something.

From the people who brought you Cold Series 2010 comes Yugioh conspiracy Theories.

Final Countdown meta would suck' date=' as everybody would play defensive.

Result - the first one who activates it wins.

[/quote']

Or, more S/T destruction heavy decks could be played. Image, anteatereatingant being ran @3's.

That would fail.

First of all, we're not sure if it protects a card or cards, and we also don't know how exactly moving things along works with this. Let's not speculate in semantics.

I realize the anime doesn't use good OCG, and that I didn't see the episode, but if it's worded like that, I imagine Yusei used it to protect 1 card, am I incorrect?

Yes he does, but for all we know "a card" is a mistranslation. It's happened before.

He used it when Wisel Top 3 negated the activation of Scrap-Iron Scarecrow. Since this was an effect, Scrap-Iron was still destroyed, so he didn't "protect" it, though it was in response to one card. Generally, when a card uses an article instead of a number, it's the same as appending a (s) - i.e. saying "when a card you control would be destroyed" is the same as "when a card(s) you control would be destroyed", just different "generations" of OCG. As written, I imagine the card could chain to when multiple cards would be destroyed.
