Counter Fairies

Recommended Posts

I don't know. I've never played with a whole counter fairy deck, but I've looked into it. Voltanis the Adjudicator (amazing name) is pretty cool, even though it has its obvious weaknesses. I've had crazy ideas with that, Dark World, and Arcana Force the World. Yeah, definitely crazy.

NOTE: counter traps is the sheet.

Yee, the deck stops everything, and can swarm pretty well, I think the deck needs to be brought back.

Solemn was Limited.

Dark Bribe? Forced Back? etc?

It doesn't matter. They already sucked before Solemn was Limited, but Solemn's limiting was the last nail in the coffin. You can't replace a full out negater like that in Counter Fairies as easily as in other decks, you lose something from not being able to negate everything with one card.

lol@the idea of using Bountiful Artemis in a Hopeless Dragon deck that runs Vandalgyon + a bunch of Counter Traps.

...........

.................

Actually' date=' thats not a bad idea

And at that, you'll be able to protect ur dragons.

My idea is Counter Garden with Obelisk, I made it, that deck is torture if I pull it off.

More of a reason why Hopeless was ridiculously distructive back on Wc09.

3x Dark Bribe+ 3x Solemn + 3x Vandalgyon, in a deck that supports it, was awesome

We now have plenty more counters to abuse Vandalgyon with now though.

NOW, it would be more like:

3x Dark Bribe & Divine warning + Solemn

Shutting down there cards while gaining a beatstick with a variable effect is always awesome ;)

alright, it seems i have to educate people AGAIN.

counter fairies have two huge flaws:

first, they throw out advantage like mad. you need artemis on the field just to +0, and you get no other draw engines. granted they got tethys in recently, and she pushed them to a top in an sjc, but theyve had nothing else since. advantage wasting, though. wrath, forced back and bribe are -1's, solemn is at a huge cost, etc.

second, reliance on counter traps. the problem with counter traps is that you either have the right one at the right time, or you dont. you're far more likely not to. youll have bribe down when he throws a jd, and wrath down when he heavy storms. wtf are you going to do.

in answer to your thought, no, counter fairies dont have decent swarm. they have mediocre to bad swarm. since only one of them is special summoned without the cost of huge advantage. vandy, that is. the rest need to be normal summoned and are too big for searchers to pull. theyre just bad.

honestly, counter fairies are the best deck on paper, but just terrible in play. theyre terribly inconsistent. when they work, they work beautifully, but when they fail, and they fail more often, theyre awful.

Tronta apparently runs CFs nothing like me =s

I try to run +0 Traps - Warning, Solemn, Magic Drain, Tools of the Bandit(sometimes), usually the -1 Bribes and Wraths too just because they test well.

With Pot of Duality making it a bit easier to get Artemis/ect and giving another viable spell to ditch for Summoner Monk to get Artemis/ect, they've got a bit more effective recently. That's helped by Warning. I haven't tested Magnificent Dignity, but it could work.

And I've never even tried to 'swarm' with them, my CF Builds are usually much slower and control-based, sometimes even running things like Upstart to maximize consistency. They're usually very inconsistent, but that's been helped recently, even if you have to sacrifice some of the more powerful cards in the Deck to fit stuff in.

ocg cards do not factor into my experience with them.

because i am not japanese.

i dont even know what warning is off the top of my head, solemn has a huge price (and if youre factoring in lifepoints into advantage, which as lifepoints approach 8000 you should begin to, thats a considerable amount of advantage). tools sucks balls.

drain is situational.

your better counter traps are ones like forced back that give you quick field advantage. which is the best way to run CFs. if you can get early game control, you can win easily. beat down oppressively in the first few turns and take an lead/win before the other deck has time to set up.

slow cfs are bad. outright. with the loss of advantage from counter traps, you wont keep up in the long run. even if youre running +0's, its still 1 for 1s with no way of increasing advantage. unless you have artemis, i guess. still situational. but CF's are just situational out the ass.

it will always come down to this:

you either have the right trap at the right time or you dont. simply put.

1 Artemis turns +0s into +1s

My CFs spam advantage' date=' and get Artemis fairly consistently.

They're good with OCG cards, which I'm including.

[/quote']

Which is why, when I got the opportunity, I used Tragoedia's effect to take it.

No, really, I once faced Counter Fairies and he didn't have a Divine Wrath at the time, so I was able to take his Artemis. Too bad he used Divine Wrath when I tried to take the second one he summoned later in the duel. I got a lot of mileage out of that first Artemis though.

Counter Fairies looks good on paper, yet it doesn't live up to its paper image.

he didn't have a Divine Wrath at the time

my point exactly.

and the +0 counter traps arent that good.

Its more to Counter Fairies than just gaining +1s. Sure you can(and should) gain card advantage when the opportunity arises, but their main purpose is to disrupt their opponent's strategy completely without losing card advantage. Timing also plays a factor. They are consistent enough, but Pot of Duality will help them out alot when it comes out.

no, actually, thats the whole point of them. you get +1's to compensate for all the -1's and try to maintain advantage while reducing their advantage. that's the point of perfect herald, thats' the point of heraklinos. basically you try to reduce their advantage while maintaining at least a small lead over them. that way at the end of the day, you have some options and they have no options.
