If this card would exist, it would be banned instantly

Identity Crisis

[Quick-Play Spell Card]

Declare 1 card name, and select 1 face-up monster you control. The selected monster's name is treated as the declared card's name for the remainder of the Duel.

Discuss cards that can change their or other card's names. Fusion Substitutes included.

I don't think it would get banned instantly, actually. Certainly, it's abusable in some aspect, but I'm not quite sure whether it's broken. Its effect is kind of odd, though. Maybe not for the entire duel, but maybe as long as it's on the field and graveyard. It could help out by letting you use "card-specific" cards that don't work due to the banned list, like Primal Seed, or help you Fusion tougher monsters by changing the name to the desired material monster.

I think a card like that would actually be really interesting. Prisma, Phantom of Chaos, and Hero Mask change monster names, with Proto-Cyber, Cyber Dragon Zwei, Dupe Frog, and Ronintoadin having built in "change your name" effects.

Feather Wind now becomes a free Solemn Judgment as long as that monster remains Face-Up on your field.

Actually making something like DAD become Featherman would be pretty lulzy.

Not exactly free... its a 2 for one trade.

Well yes but you know what I mean, no card is free but...a Solemn Judgment that is runnable in 3s and just requires your name to be Elemental Hero Featherman would be abused with this card.

*summon Cyber Valley*

*Identity Crisis*

*Machine Dupe*

But I still don't see why this wouldn't be instantly banned.

Spontaneous swarm of any high level beatstick' date=' synchro fodder or other "good" cards.

This card would not be banned due to infinite loops, though, because players are not allow to initiate an infinite loop, therefore one could not abuse it with cards like The Wicked Avatar and such, but it could be abused with Dark Room of Nightmare because the loop would last until your opponent's life points hit 0.[/stating the obvious and failing to see others sarcasm if there is any']

Such as?

And, high level beatsticks but they cost 3 cards that are completely useless without each other.

And, Machine Dupe is bannable.

This theoretical card only changes a monster's name, not an S/Ts.

Although, with that noted, it should probably only let you declare a monster's name, although I'm not sure if a monster with an S/T's name would affect too much. It would be interesting, to say the least.

Since Identity Crisis is a Quick-Play, you can also use Inferno Reckless Summon, and chain with Identity Crisis for the same effect as Dupe.

The following is a fun card:

Pay all of your Life Points and declare one monster card name, Special Summon 1 monster with the declared card name from your Hand, Deck, Extra Deck, Graveyard, or Removed From Play Zone, ignoring summoning conditions. If the summoned card would be removed from the field, you lose the Duel instead. You cannot be declared the Loser by any other means.

Return your own monster to your hand, you cannot lose. Change the effect to removed from the field, otherwise that card would be more broken than chaos emperor dragon
