A Flip Effect is a mandatory effect that automatically activates when a card is flipped face-up. It will always activate, even if the effect cannot be performed. In this case though, Ryko can resolve successfully. When it comes time to send the three cards from the top of your deck to the Graveyard, any monsters that would go in there are removed from play instead. Cards whose costs are sending cards from the top of the Deck to the Graveyard cannot be payed as you can't guarantee that you can pay the cost (in case there is a monster at the top of the deck, it couldn't go to the Graveyard).
