You know, it could just be me and my ignorance of RP knowledge, but I don't see how YGO would work as an RP.

I mean, I know it's been done before, but I personally just can't see it working practically what with the duels and stuff; way too easy to godmod I think.

I'm sure they make it to where it's a sensible move. If you draw draw all pieces of Exodia, then I'm sure they do something about that.

The same can be said with Magical powers in a Fantasy RP, but it'd be a bit harder to GM, but it's possible. Very possible. Which is why I disallowed the use of Magical powers in my RP for the players. Only I can use them, but I'm holding a special position in that RP. Game-master, etc. But I actually hold myself back quite a bit.

Someone used a Fail OTK on me once in a Yu-Gi-Oh! RP... When I called him on it, he said "Congrats, you beat a move I have used a lot, by pointing out the one flaw."

Said flaw was using COLD WAVE, then using other S/Ts.

Point being, he admitted to Godmodding.

I remember that one. It was pretty interesting.

There are obviously going to be level systems. For example, I am not starting out with Stardust right away. I'm starting with Stardust Phantom. Then Debris, then Stardust. Then it's higher forms.

Oh, by the way, cards that were originally Dark Synchros are for villain use only.

Same goes for the Earthbound Gods, Cubic, and Asterisk.

...That doesn't make sense.

It would be more like Debris > Stardust. Phantom is like... A Stardust worshiper. It's the Dark Magician of Stardust. If anything it would be Stardust Xiaolong > Debris > Stardust and even then that's a stretch. :/

Also having Stardust is as original as having black hair, being angsty, and a grim reaper mech.

That and I can only see Cherry with Stardust for some reason.

Basically it'll function like an actual fight. The monsters fight each other, and the ones wielding said monsters can fight against each other by borrowing power from their monsters.

The Spell and Trap abilities will only be used later on. When first starting out, you'll have your monster, and that's it.

@Fen: My reasoning for my first choice of form is that Xialong is a monster that Stardust can summon to help in battles. Consequently, Stardust will have an ability change where it can summon up to a certain number of Xialong. Assault Mode and higher will have the same effects as their cards, except possibly changed so that there is no destruct effect, since that's basically lolnoikeeljoonao, which is exactly the sort of thing I am trying to avoid.

His effect does. When he dies, Stardust is brought out.

So basically at one point Stardust Phantom dies, is reborn as Stardust Dragon, and then to not have it be such a broken powerup, goes down one to Debris and has to work its way back up to Stardust.

I'm still trying to think of what weaker forms of Red Demon Dragon there are though.

No.

If were implying Pokemon Logic, then Debris Dragon would need some sort of item in order to evolve.

Because a wizard-dude evolving into a dragon isn't really consistent :/

Though you could have Debris become Stardust, and then give Stardust various branched evolutions using different methods to become its various other forms(assault, shooting, quasar, etc, etc)

Now Trap or Spell Reactor evolving into Summon Reactor then into AIR RAID would make sense.

And then we say Team Rocket The Dark Signers use [evil plot device related to evolution] on Summon Reactor, and it becomes Dark Strike Fighter instead of AIR RAID.

Oh, and you could also include "legendaries" for the rival characters and have them evolve into their cooler forms, like so:

Brionac -> Gungnir -> Trish

Scrap Dragon -> Scrap Twin -> Atomic Scrap

Catastor -> Field Marshal -> Decisive Weapon

etc

etc

....But that's just me.

The only branch that makes sense is goddamn Assault mode. Because it's basically Stardust with Armor. (basically a toned down Rhyperior) The regular line would be like, Debris -> Stardust -> Shooting Star. Majestic also seems like an offshoot or something, Quasar honestly just seems like an Arceus legendary. It's got the same coloration as Stardust but that's it.

I can only see the Reactors fuse into AIR RAID Power Rangers style.

Brio and Gungnir have names though. I don't think they would evolve. :/
