[spoiler=Updated Prologue of "Children of the World Tree"]

General Fredric Sheppard of the Terra-Andromeda 2 colony walked back and forth through the hallway of the main base. He was sweating and appeared to be in deep thought. He did also look very worried, and the hair that still remained on his head after 57 years of living had started to fall off from the stress. It was the damn aliens' fault. The humans had arrived at the planet that they called TA2 only two months ago and had already built up a couple of bases across an area of 10 square kilometers, but at least one of these had been destroyed by the planet's natives who called themselves Aesir, just like the gods from Norse myth. The Aesir claimed to be the very same creatures that the Norse worshipped, but Sheppard was skeptical. That was around 2000 years ago, and he refused to believe that a living creature could survive for that long, and he had a hard time believing that the Aesir, if they could've been the ones from 2000 years ago, wouldn't have visited Earth again during the time between then and now. He suddenly heard footsteps other then his own in the hallway and looked up. It was Cpt. Ariel Jackson, a beautiful woman with long, silver-blonde hair. She was wearing a black tank-top and her brown pilot jacket, even though the climate on TA2 around the humans' landing site wasn't very cold.

"General." She greeted Sheppard.

"Captain." Sheppard responded. "Shouldn't you be asleep now?"

"I was stationed to watch the cameras, remember? You were the one who gave me the order, General."

"Oh!" Sheppard sighed. The stress was almost killing him. "Then why aren't you there watching the cameras?"

"The telephone, sir. An incoming transmission"

Sheppard's face lit up. When the Aesir had demanded the humans to leave the planet Sheppard had informed them that the colonists' main time-space jumping engine had overheated during their arrival and was unusable, but he promised to ask for help. After two weeks the Aesir had grown impatient and destroyed one of the human bases. The general had yet to receive any answer of his plea for help. Hopefully this was it.

"It's an ás, sir." Ariel looked a bit sad. "Apparently the Aesir wants to solve this in a more diplomatic manner."

Sheppard felt a shock of disappointment surging through his body. It was good news that the Aesir was taking a more peaceful approach, but he had been more happy if it was the TA1 who responded.

"You can go to sleep if you want, captain." Sheppard said and made his way to the transmission room. Ariel looked after him with a sad face.

Sheppard arrived in the room and sat down on a comfortable chair in front of the main monitor, which was black with a line of red text saying "Incoming Transmission". Sheppard answered the call and the monitored switched to show an apparently humanoid creature with an oblong face and silver-azure skin. It had no nose, lips nor ears, and under it's cheeks was a couple of tentacles. It's eyes was glowing with a serene, yellow color, and one could see long, blonde hair on the back of it's head.

"Opala, uru'ka-en!" The alien spoke with an echoing, dark voice, and the ás looked a bit sad.

"What do you want, ás?" Sheppard didn't feel like being polite. He was very tired and not in the best of moods.

"Is that the way the people of Uru'kaur greet eachother? How impolite." The alien said. Sheppard couldn't figure out if it was joking or if it was serious. He didn't care either. "I am Councilor Thor of the Aesir Empire."

"I know." Sheppard simply answered.

"Yes. I'm here to talk about this disagreement that your race has with mine."

"We cannot leave, and help has yet to arrive." Sheppard looked at the ás. If it only could understand that.

"I know." Thor surprisingly answered. "I wanted to warn you. Loki has grown very impatient with your kind, and he wants to get rid of you immediately."

"I think he already made that clear." Sheppard sounded very annoyed.

"I cannot help you any more, uru'ka-en, and if Loki is going to attack I will stand by his side. I will, however, spare as many human-lives as possible. You have my word."

That was good news. Sheppard knew that the Aesir was an honorful race, and they would never break a promise.

"I suggest that you should prepare your troops, uru'ka-en." Thor looked at Sheppard. His eyes had a specific feel to it, was it compassion? "I'm sorry, I would be on your side in this war, but I won't betray my own kin. Until we meet again, uru'ka-en."

The transmission ended. Sheppard started to sweat again and walked out of the room. He knew that this dispute could only end in two ways; Loki's death or the humans'.

I still think it's bad, but I wanted to see your opinion. I also realized that Aesir is the plural form of ás. If there's any otehr questions, feel free to ask them.

I actually saw the argument between Ice and Max. I felt a bit sorry for Max. It was a good card, but I didn't count the fact of the amount of effects.

CRIKEY! A wild Maxist in it's natural habitat! Watch as he feels guilty for the effect spamming moron!
