Rockin' Rollin' Duelist Posted June 28, 2010 Report Share Posted June 28, 2010 That's right everyone, I made it. For those who have no idea what I'm going on about, let me explain. Late last year, a group of duelists all over Georgia gathered together for a friendly tournament between them. It was nothing special, and wasn't official or anything, but it was fun and exciting. During the tournament, a guy by the name of Joel Bader gave the ifea of them hosting their own state wide championships, complete with cash prizes and everything. Nearly everyone in attendence agreed and plans were set forth to create the Atlanta Duel Championship. In March of this year, the championship began, meeting every weekend. We would pay a weekly fee of ten dollars to enter, and every week we would receieve an entrance gift of any pack of our chosing. The tournament was double elimination, and with over two hundred people signed to compete, it would take a while. After the first round was completed, it was announced the the finals would be held during the first weekend in July, and just last night the finalists were all sent emails with their acceptence information. I was among the sixty finalists chosen, and will be competing for $200 in cash and a custom made deck of any 40 cards I wish. The elimination rules will be different this time. For every match you win/lose, you will either gain or lose points. At the end of each week of the finals, the ten with the lowest scores will be eliminated. During the last week, when only ten remain, it will change to double elimination rules again, being eliminated after two match loses. It can hardly claim to be the best overall though with the World championships and nationals and all. It's pretty good though. A lot of great competition. I nearly didn't make it this far, so I'm interested to see how far into the finals I can get. I don't think I'll win though, not with the amazing people in it.
