I was watching this video the other day, and this guy made this exact move: Summon Stratos -> Next Turn he summoned this and attacked directly with 3200, then tributed both for the 1500, and did a total of 4700 in 1 turn.
It was hilarious.

Also, Amazoness Archer has always been female.

Archer deals 1200. Someone in that video messed up (or you recited the numbers back wrong). But why it was named Amazon Archer, we dont know, since it gets Amazoness support.

Pretty sure Amazon Archer came out several sets before Amazoness was known for being an Archetype. Even though "Amazoness Archer" was named "Amazoness" in Japanese, they probably just localized it as "Amazon Archer" unaware that it would later belong to an "Amazoness" archetype later... maybe >_>;

Frog the Jam and Frogs in general are also oddly named. They basically switched "kaeru" for frog with "gaeru" for toad. Pretty sure our "Frog" archetype is supposed to be a "Toad" archetype instead, and "Frog the Jam" is correctly named as Frog.

kaeru = gaeru.

When usually linking nouns together, the ka changes to a ga.

Same concept for other words that start with ha > ba, sa > za, etc.

It's still the same word. Just helps Japanese people make it flow better.

There are many noun compounds that retain their originals without changing though. You just need to memorize though.

That's like hanashi > banashi. Means conversation for both, but the second one must be linked to another noun.

Just a side Japanese note.

As soon as Westerners realize that they shouldn't translate stuff to English, we wouldn't have to deal with stuff like Konami debating between toad and frog.

I was thinking more along the lines of being a portmanteau of the word "Hikigaeru" for Toad and a noun, combining the two together to show what kind of toad they are. I never really got that far in Japanese where combining two nouns would produce a hard sound like that x.o; That or i don't remember it. It was only one semester after all. I didn't stay in that college.

It has always been female, it's just that calling it Amazon Archer rather than Amazoness meant they had to add another line to each Amazoness card saying "search for 1 'Amazoness' card or 'Amazon Archer'". So upon the release of Gold Series 3, they corrected it and corrected the OCG. Simple.

OT: Meh, next?

Schools teach noun and other compounds in the later levels. Sometimes they don't even teach it at all, since most people grasp it along the way.

Anyways, that's off the point. The point I was making in this thread was that Konami fail'd with deciding their translations.

Does it really matter? At the time this was released, nobody knew the Amazoness archetype would be released, which is an excuse for Friend-Slaying Knightess having been renamed to The Unfriendly Amazon. The episode that introduced them aired after Labyrinth of Nightmare was released in the US, and the US series called them Amazons. Since no one knew the archetype would be later released in Magician's Force, they adjusted the English cards to include Archer. Konami couldn't have predicted their release, and probably left them as Amazoness like in Japan to avoid controversy involving US players debating whether of not The Unfriendly Amazon can be a possible target for the support cards.
