Half-Life:

1-10:

Gordon Freeman - Low attack. Spell only puts him on par with Gene Warped WarWolf. So when it's worse then a vanilla... yeah.

Alyx Vance - A vanilla. Great. Her flavour text is violently incorrect BTW. The first time she helped him it was from Civil Protection, not Dr. Breen. Breen didn't even know Gordon was still alive. The second time she and him teamed up was at Nova Prospekt, but they only went to rescue Eli Vance. The final time they met she was already trapped. It was Gordon who came to HER rescue. After this, it is implied Dr. Breen died.

Secondly, and most importantly, there's the fan theory that Dr. Breen isn't even a villain. He surrendered on behalf of the Earth because the Combine could easily eliminate all of humanity and end life. By accepting an unconditional surrender after the 7 Hour War, Breen became a puppet of the Combine, not their leader. Even though the rest of the world became terrible... it was better than the alternative, being dead. You may argue that was cowardly of him to do but... being a coward =/= being evil.

Combine - That's not a "Combine". This is:

What the Combine (like the Combine Advisor seen above) do is, literally as their name implies, combine their technology and stuff with that of native species. Striders, Hunters, the Dropships and Gunships, those are all real aliens that had been turned into part-machine things controlled by the combine.

What you showed in that picture was a member for Civil Protection. They're regular humans who haven't merged together with the Combine yet. They joined the Civil Protection for more perks like food or to stop getting beaten by other Civil Protection people. So yeah, completely regular people, not at-all-synth'd. They pledge their allegiance to the Combine, but they are not The Combine. Complicated? A little I guess...

And they weren't "Hired by Dr. Breen" by any stretch of the imagination. My god, how much of the backstory just went completely over your head?

Dr Breen - "If Special Summoned succesfully, take out 2 Half-Life: Combine from your Graveyard to your hand".

OCG is f***ing disgusting.

All that aside, nothing in the deck seems to be able to SS Dr. Breen. I suppose that's the point, maybe. Limit Reverse or something to get the little guy out but... eh.

Dog - It's a vanilla. Then again, not much was ever said about Dog. I don't get the "K-9" companion bit. I don't believe anyone calls him that. They call him DØg but overall... *shrug*

Headcrab - It's effect doesn't say "once per turn" or anything like that. This implies it can be done forever and ever until you get bored/you control all your opponents monsters.

Poison Headcrab - The second part of it's effect, the one that limits it to once per Headcrab, makes if significantly worse then Submarineroid or Fane the Steel Chain or Amethyst Cat or something.

secondly, it's effect doesn't do what a Poison Headcrab does. It'd probably have to drop an opponent's monster to 1 attack or something like that, but that'd probably be too overpowered so something like "That monster can't be destroyed by battle" or "Poison Headcrabs can not destroy a monster by battle" (or just drop Poison crabs to zero attack. > >)

Headcrab Zombie - It's like Mystic Tomato and/Or Pyramid Turtle, only terrible.

This whole "It's like X, only terrible" is gonna come up a lot, isn't it?

Poison Headcrab Zombie - Ehh... I guess it's...

"From your hand."

=|

Terrible card. Not to mention it seems to go against Poison Headcrab's own effect of "only one crab per turn."

City 17 - NOBODY GIVES A f*** ABOUT DEFENSE INCREASES IN A GAME DEDICATED TO ATTACKING!

11-20:

Black Mesa: Reminds me The A Forces.

I'm pretty sure I said this somewhere else, but ATK or DEF Increase/decrease cards are INCREDIBLY unoriginal. Like they did them back in the days of Legend of the Blue Eyes White Dragon and Metal Raiders and stuff, but they realized cards that only do attack/defense increases were god awful. Heck, the only reason chumps run stuff like Solidarity is because they're stackable.

Father Grigory - I have a sneaking suspicion the reason you make so many underpowered Vanillas is so you can justify making so many attack/defense cards. But if you just made your cards better you wouldn't need to "balance" your low attack monsters with your increase/decrease cards.

Eli Vance - I think I'll continue my rant here. I mentioned this in the Portal card thing, but it makes even more sense here. I was all like "lawl, there's no real reason for Chell or the robots" and then I kind of had to begrudgingly take it back with Wheatley and the Portal Gun, but there is literally zero reason for the above two cards to exist. There is no specific support made for them ("When Eli Vance is on the field, something happens") and any support that may work in tandem with them could be done better by vanillas with higher attack. Or effect monsters.

Also, once again your flavour text is disgustingly bad for showing an utter lack of caring for the actual Half-Life story.

Vortigaunt - A one sac with 2500 attack? Summoned Skull.

It's effect doesn't say "once per turn" so you could have infinte life points.

But if it IS once per turn, then the card goes from being super broken to just bad. Getting it's effect to go off would end up a huge liablity, since you wouldn't want its 2500 attack to go to waste for 2250 defense. Maybe if its defense was higher it might be usable but even then...

If you want consistent once per turn LP gains, you'd be better off with Solemn Wishes. And Solemn Wishes is a terrible card.

The G-Man - This one... actually might not be all that terrible (in terms of playabilty). It would probably go in a deck that had nothing to do with Half Life though. Then again, its OCG is really bad.

Antlion - What the hell do you mean "they rarely go on land"? They're on land literally all the time. They LIVE in it. That's the only place they do go! >_>

Grub - "if this card lasts for 3 turns on your Main Phases after Summoning"

WTF kind of card grammar is this?

Also, it most likely won't survive those three turns.

Worker - Also, surviving the 3 turns is meaningless, since it summons this craptacular monster.

Why is Worker weaker then Antlion when it's stronger then a regular antlion in the game? Also, OCG errors.

Gaurd - Meh.

Also, bad OCG.

Alien Pheremones - Really? That's the name you picked? Not Bugbait or Pheropods, like they're called in the game? Also, that's not what the Pheropod does. It summons insects and makes them attack other stuff. The card just makes an already haphazard set more random. Like... run insects and warriors... ever heard of Synergy? Not the Half-Life 2 mod but like... the way they're made they don't really run well each other. Dragunities are Dragons + Winged Beasts, so making one-type + one-other-type decks isn't that scandalous or anything. It's just... there's nothing that seems to imply that Insects and Warriors should be run together except for their names and this one card.

21-23

Kleiner - HOLY S*** THAT'S TERRIBLE!

Lamar - HOLY S*** THAT'S EVEN WORSE THEN KLEINER!

Kleiner and Lamar - You made it a "fusion monster"? Why not something like, "when Kleiner is on the field, this happens" or "When lamar is on the field, this also happens"?

It's effect MIGHT be usable as some kind of anti-zombie tech, but no one runs Zombies, and 1700 attack gets run over by Zombie Master.

"OH! BUT YOU COULD USE BLACK MESA AND IT WON'T BE!"

You could also use Neos Alius and not need a crappy field spell to have it beat Zombie Master in a fist fight.

In short, it's only real use is against Zombies, but it's not even that good against Zombies because it's attack is to small. Not to mention it requires you to run two really, really terrible monsters in the first place.

Also, the OCG is godawful, but you already knew that, right?

This is by far your worst set. In terms of card effects, playability, and OCG.

Well, the OCG is one that I have a hard time with,
I have difficulty with OCG too sometimes. Just look up the effects of other cards. yugioh.wikia.com is a great source. So is YVD, even without friends, if only for the description searching feature.
but the effects, I think really hard on those
TF2-set:
19 monsters.
7 of them are vanillas (I count Fusions who's effects are only "Can't be summoned except by Fusion Summon" to be vanillas)

19 Spells and traps.
12 cards that are just "increase/decrease" by a certain number of points

L4D set:
19 monsters.
11 vanillas.

Portal set:
10 monsters (and one token)
3 of them are vanillas.
4 of them have the EXACT same effect.

8 spells and traps.
3 of them are "increase/decrease" attack and not much else.
1 of them is a generic ritual spell.

HL set:
20 monsters.
6 are Vanillas.

3 spells and traps
3 of them are generic "increase/decrease" stats.

I really gotta call into question exactly how much thought you put into them.
and some of the cards that you compare to mine, I never heard of those cards before.
The cards I mentioned are very, very old. They were staples like, 10 years ago. <_<
And the playability, it's almost in between.
TF2 set:
- A majority of the specific equips can be replaced by Axe of Despair.
- There is literally no benefit to running a pure TF2 set when you could just run a generic warrior deck and win way more consistently.

Half-Life set:
- Like the TF2 set, but even more so. There's no reason to run Gordon or Alyx or Breen over say, Stratos or one of the Six Samurai or Warrior Dai Grepher or something. The only solution would be to make the spells only equippable to Gordon and Pals but... that'd make the spells LESS playable.

Portal set:
- The "best" set of these, but that's hardly saying much.

Most of the cards in each set that aren't vanillas or aren't attack/defense increases have extremely underpowered effects, extremely low attack and defense, or both.
