~Muhammad Ali
So, in no way do I mean this as a flame thread as I am not naming names, just using this quote as an example. Some people these days really do relate Islam (my religion) with terrorism, which I find extremely offensive. "just the Muhammad part offends me i know who ali is anyone who knows anything knows the guy. When i think muhammad i think Islam then i think of terrorist then i think of 9 11 thats how it offends me." So my question is, how do you relate to terrorism? What are your opinions on it? How does it effect you? Maybe your responses will open up some peoples eyes to how much it offends people.
Blake
I associate Islam with the radicals, but not directly. They are a loony bird sect, just like the radicals in Christianity. You know, the ones that protest Troop Burials? Yeah, those guys. I refuse to associate my self with them. So, I bet you feel the same way.
Flame Dragon
Since this thread has been reported twice I'm just going to say the above quote is VERY stupid and petty. This topic is perfectly fine in debates since it is a more mature topic about how people relate Islamic people to being terrorists.

It makes us look bad, so I hope you see where I am coming from.
JG.
I'm guessing that you recieved the above quote? If so, f*** him. You could say that you accosiate John (Or whatever his American name is) with your country being invaded by them, so you find his name offensive. But really, if someone told you that, then that person is a *words that would get me banned on the spot*. So there. Also, I don't accosiate muslims with terrorists unless, it's been on the news in the past... 3 hours or so. So yeah, I have plenty of muslim friends =P

Ice.
I have a best friend that's a Muslim, so that pissed me off. Bro, don't take it seriously. Ignore him. He's just a retarded racist who's opinion doesn't matter.
JG.
I just read your huge Wall Argument with Templar Knox. ~Muhammad Ali
Ice: thanks for seeing where I'm coming from.. JG.: I am very appreciative of your help, this argument is pretty much over now as it was more me bantering him for being a racist prick, but you were the one who probably stopped it with a few others by backing me up, couldn't have done it without you, thanks. However, I don't want to turn this thread into a hate thread and end up getting myself banned on my first day! So, if you any newcomers want to post your opinion don't do it on this guy, haha. CrabHelmet
The whole "get us both banned" thing might have worked if this were your elementary school playground where the teachers consider being punched in the face just as bad as punching someone in the face, but YCM isn't moderated by cowardly, stupid elementary school teachers. It's moderated by me. You will not be missed.
DARKPLANT RISING
People who think all Islams are terrorists are ignorant idiots. Seriously. Muhammad meant to give the world a good sense of living philisophy, and I see nothing bad with that. It's just the al Queda and all the related terrorist clans. If they actually lived along the laws of the Islams, they wouldn't be like... well, what they are now. I have no real assosiation with terrorism. Dark
Yes, people who think all Muslims are terrorists are retarded. Yes, people who think all terrorists are Muslims are retarded. But there is one thing you are missing out on; statistics show that a majority of terrorists are from Islam (despite them being radical, they are still self-claimed Muslims), and Islam (as shown time and time again) is easily one of the most violent religions today. Even though their pretty old and traditional with their beliefs, some of 'em. Essentially, associating terrorism with Islam or vice versa is stupid, but don't think someone has the wrong idea if they hear something about terrorism and automatically think the Middle-East. Just because they are discriminating doesn't mean they cannot be statistically correct. Going to an above point, anyone who is even more than mildly religious is retarded (and an extremist in my eyes (damn people trying to get rid of abortion, just stfu up)), so I hate pretty much everyone. People that think all christians and republicans think all muslims are terrorists are also idiots. I 'unno, man. Maybe not all, but a good portion of the right-wing people I know have the dumbest views ever, but hey, isn't that to be expected?
snowyash
I don't know why the whole Muslim thing is even brought up to this sort of an extent (It's good for people to be educated though.) Terrorism, by it's (one of it's) own definition is : - the use of violence of threats to intimidate or coerce. By this definition, an awful lot of people are terrorized every day over mundane things. People are just too quick to associate it with religion. Hell, bullying is terrorism to an extent. That is how I relate to terrorism.
Dark
Terrorism, though its definition is mild, is more often than not used for more extreme circumstances. You wouldn't call someone stealing lunch money an act of terrorism, a less extreme word in the form of "bullying" took its place. My posts (and presumably the rest of this thread) are based on the assumption that we are thinking of terrorism in a more extreme sense, like 9/11 (no matter who did it; the Middle-East or the government), or the bombings in India.
You are totally right dude *gives +rep* You can't say Islam is related to terrorism, because if you do, you might as well say that every religon is somehow related to terrorism. When people become terrorists for the god and religon they believe in, they are telling more about themselves than their religon. They are only showing how cruel they are. You can't blame the religon for what the person who believed in the religon did. If you understand what I am trying to say. I don't think any God wants someone who believes in him to kill for him. Muslims are as much terrorists as christians or any other religon. NOTE: This post, in any way, is not meant to be offending to any race, religon, etc. I am sorry if I offended you in any way, but it was not intentional
Amethyst Phoenix
Interesting fun fact: Upon asking local people known to be right-wing, their views are much more tolerant than would be apparent. When I asked why they acted homophobic in public despite having no problem with gays etc, their responses amounted to "Trolling the liberals for the lulz". So yeah. Not that it's representative of the majority, but it's entirely possible a lot of the left-wing people are just feeding some epic trolling. Also, while I understand that Bullying might not have been the greatest example of the definition I provided, things like shouting at people to scare them can be classed as terrorism. On the other end of the scale, the attacks that might once have been called terrorism (9/11, etc) due to the fact it was to intimidate, it is beginning to go a step further into mindless violence. Catterjune
Every side has terrorists. Doomboi
I too, agree. I hate all the extremist too. And hey, I'm a Muslim myself. They just gave us a bad name. The only just acts of violence according to Islam are self preservation, preservation of dignity and preservation of your country. No matter where you're from, dying for your country gets you a one way ticket to heaven.
