mythcaptor
while absent mindedly pawing through my substantial collection, I randomly came across the card stone statue of the aztecs . A combo suddenly occurred to me. If you have canyon on the field, and stone statue face down, Could it deal 4x damage when attacked? That could theoretically even otk if they attacked with a 0 atk monster (yes I know noone would do that. shutup) 2000 def x2 from stone statues effect x2 from canyon = up to 8000 damage does this work? How good is it?.discus
Kaisu
Actually, Canyon + Stone + Stronghold Guardian I lost a match like that once >.
darkwolf777
The two effects do not stack. The factor each card can grant is only 2x. One of the effects gives it the 2x Battle Damage, the other will not do anything because battle damage is already doubled. Neither grants the ability to do 4x damage nor do they combine together to grant 4x either. Think of it like how a monster has a built in effect that lets it attack 2 times, and a card effect that allows it to attack 2 times. Those don't add up together to grant a total of 3-4 attacks. The maximum granted is still only 2. This kinda works the same way.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
I would try to argue against that, but I can't think of any other cards that have an effect like this, and the Wiki does not say anything on it. If it were going by Dungeons and Dragons rules, the damage would be 3 times (double damage from two sources, each contributing the second half of the damage equally: 2000 damage normally, then both sources contribute another 2000 damage each). EDIT: Cross Counter's ruling states that with Stone Statue, damage is only doubled once. So yeah, it only works once.

Dries965
But that doesnt mean these card are useless, with currently D2 Shield and Strongehold, you can go for a defensive deck

Anyway, pity that doesn't work.

Yes, it can be used during the Damage Step, so you can use it when a face-down monster is flipped face-up due to battle.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
Yeah, I was going to retract my statement, but I was too lazy to. I guess it only says "face-up" so that new players don't activate it on their face-down monster and expect it to do something.
