sebihp2007
Cutting to the chase, Decks should be built so that the probability for a Dead Draw is small (you're not going to run 20 Special Summon monsters), but I'm almost sure most players have encountered Dead Draws at least a few times.. Like, I was playing using my Twilight Lightsworn Deck around 1 week ago on YVD and during the first duel of the match with a Quickdraw Plant playing opponent, I got Judgment Dragon, 2 Chaos Sorcerers, Dark Armed Dragon and a Solar Recharge. On my first Draw, I get a Royal Decree and on the next draw I get Phantom of Chaos; and I remember I was on Skype with 2 of my friends and I told them "I can see that the next draw I get is gonna be the other Judgment Dragon"; and guess what? Judgment Dragon .. (even though I won the following 2 duels, lol) What I wanted to discuss in this topic (which may belong in the Strategy forum, though the description of this subforum is "everything related to the TCG") is how you deal with Dead Draws. How useful do you find Duality / Morphing Jar / Card Destruction ?
~British Soul~
with dead draws you just got to deal with it, but some people say it's all down to how your deck is arranged and how your deck is shuffled that determines how many dead draws you get in a duel. Azuh
Dead draws happen every duel. We're not Yusei who can pull the right card needed for a certain situation
Legend Zero
Dead draws and bad hands happen, that is why its a best of three. EDIT: 3 people posted in the same minute. o.
~British Soul~
i think i was told that "having a bad hand at the start, doesn't mean you're gonna lose the duel", but the person who told me that could be wrong.
Mehmani
As most games can be won within the first ten turns, it's as much about luck as it is skill - if you get a terrible hand on the first turn, you might just lose because of that. Kocrow17
I playtested my deck constantly. It seemed like every second duel I was switching Giant Trunade in-and-out of my deck. Half the time it often set me up for an OTK-ish finisher, but would screw me over when I was forced to top deck. In the end, I kept it and was very thankful I never drew it at the wrong time during a local tournament. It really all depends on the luck of the draw. You can try to keep as few dead draw cards in your deck as possible, but there are very few cards that are NEVER dead draws. i think i was told that "having a bad hand at the start, doesn't mean you're gonna lose the duel", but the person who told me that could be wrong.True. You may have a bad hand, but that doesn't mean your opponent didn't just draw a worse opening hand. ;)
Coffee Black
Back in the day (which was probably only months ago), I use to take cards out of my deck immediately if I dead drew them once or twice. Now, I've just accepted the fact that certain cards can't be used all the time, and that its just apart of the game. Even the OP's example happens, but very rarely. (Whenever I duel online, I constantly blame the drawing system for forcing me to have 2 or 3 of the same cards drawn close together, which always pisses me off.) El-Rrey
Dead draws suck but you have to play around them! Also, don't be surprised to get dead draws if you are running LS Twilight.
DARKPLANT RISING
My Dark Gigavise D-draws a lot. Mainly because there's a hundred Equip Cards.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
Some hands can look "dead" but be a blessing. I draw all spells and traps except for Cyber Dragon my first 4 turns of a duel, but even losing my Cydra I still managed to pull off a combo that saved my Life Points. And because it was in my Life Gain deck, I had 12,000 Life Points too.
