You don't know what "Exceed" means?
Although we know it mean going over a limit in a degree or and whatnot. when i look at the dictionary, i notice it may not be Excess's noun meaning but adjective: "more than or above what is necessary, usual, or specified"

but anyone want more example of excess there those from the dictionary, we can only guess which excess could they meant:

1."the fact of exceeding something else in amount or degree."

2."the amount or degree by which one thing exceeds another."

3."an extreme or excessive amount or degree."

4."a going beyond what is regarded as customary or proper."

5."immoderate indulgence."

Ironically when they come up with fusion summon and synchro summon they were less vague and more concrete on example nor meaning.

@Caius: Transpparent would be stupid. And black was already used for Dark Synchrons(Even if they are anime only)

You cannot Special Summon during the turn you activate this card.
Why?
The monster is giving up 1 of its "shields" so you can draw 2.

Scapegoat can make an easy Level 4 Exceed Summon. An Exceed Summon of 2 monsters (1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, etc) would be pretty easy, since we do it with Synchros all the time. That Flamvell Firedog that just summoned Flamvell Magician I can turn into some Level 8 Exceed Monster just like I could a Level 8 Synchro Monster. The only issue there would be that the Exceed Monster must be in the Hand, rather than in the Extra Deck like Synchros.

Some may be harder (such as a Level 5 Exceed Monster would require 5 Level 1 Monsters, a level 9 Exceed Monster would require 3 Level 3 Monsters, a level 10 needing 5 Level 2 Monsters, etc).

Would be funny if Level 2 Normal Monster Decks got a level 10 Exceed Boss Monster o.x

I was thinking Red mainly because we have every other color of the rainbow incorporated...

Red - ???
Yellow - Normal Monsters
Orange - Effect Monsters
Green - Spell Cards
Blue - Ritual Monsters
Indigo - Fusion Monsters
Violet - Trap Cards

White - Synchros.
Black - Dark Synchros.

So we are complete Now

Can you overlay 1 Level 5 monster to exceed summon a Level 5 excess monster?

I remember the first post saying Exceed Summons require at least 2 monsters on the field. If there was a level 5 Exceed, 5 Level 1 Monsters would be the only way to do it.

Level 7 and Level 11 Exceed Monsters would be impossible.

Unless they make cards that say: If this card would be used as a Material for an Excess Summon, it counts as two monsters. Once, if the Excess monster this card is overlaid on would be removed from the field, it isn't.

Or something like that to allow for some monsters to be like two monsters. Heck, maybe they'd skip the second effect, although the card would then lose part of its flavor of being like two monsters.

As mentioned before, these cards could easily end up being dead draws thanks to needing to be in the hand rather than being in the Extra deck and having such strict summoning conditions.
If Book of Moon can flip the Exceed monsters face-down and remove the overlaid cards, Book of Moon would probably get hit/banned so that Konami could promote Excess monsters more.
Konami is probably going to make them horribly broken in order to balance out their summoning conditions. If they do, you can probably expect the banning of Scapegoat, Machine Duplication, and maybe even Phantom of Chaos.

If they do go out of their way to make Level 7s or Level 11s, that would sounds pretty troublesome as they would always require these Special Cards and therefore be rather deck specific (until they make enough of them so that you can always find one to fit into your deck, just like Tuners)

Time for a 7-11 Exceed Archetype~

It'll be funny to see everybody rage when Exceeds are released as orange cards like Effect monsters.

Exceeds are all going to be even number level monsters...

Level 1 + Level 1 = Level 2

Level 2 + Level 2 = Level 4

Level 3 + Level 3 = Level 6

Level 4 + Level 4 = Level 8

Level 5 + Level 5 = Level 10

Level 6 + Level 6 = Level 12

I do hope Exceeds are broken.

1*3 = 3
1*5 = 5

3 and 5 have to be allowed.

So let's see

Level 1: impossible
Level 2: 1 + 1
Level 3: 1 + 1 + 1
Level 4: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 OR 2 + 2
Level 5: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
Level 6: 2 + 2 + 2 OR 3 + 3
Level 7: impossible
Level 8: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 OR 4 + 4
Level 9: 3 + 3 + 3
Level 10: 5 + 5 OR 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2
Level 11: impossible
Level 12: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 OR 4 + 4 + 4 OR 6 + 6

So only Level 1s, 7s and 11s are impossible to summon

Which, of course, is easily fixed by having cards that screw the rules.

Like an Eccentric Boy for Exceed monsters, or a Super Poly for Exceed Monsters, or a Advanced Ritual Art for Exceed Monsters.
Anyways.. Exceed Monsters do seem very interesting, considering that they look harder to take down then the average monster could take. Just using 2 Excess Material Monsters already make it stay on the field for along time before getting destroyed.

I was also wondering, what if you use 2 Level 4 Monsters for a Level 8 and 1 of the Materials is an Exceed Monster? Do the Overlaid Monsters from the Level 4 go onto the Level 8?
I swear, if it does, I'd be running a load of Level 4 Exceed Monsters and a couple of 8s, as 8s would be nearly invincible, lol.

I wonder how the first Exceed Monster is going to be though...

Now I wanna make a written Exceed Monster card, lol.

So only Level 1s, 7s and 11s are impossible to summon

You do realize that gives Konami an excuse to completly BS the game again, right?
They might as well print junk like:

If you control a level 7 monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Only once, you can pay 1000 Lifepoints to Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. By revealing 1 level 7 Excess monster in your hand to your Opponent, you can select this card and 1 other face-up level 7 monster you control. The level's of the selected monsters is treated as 3.5

Seriously guise, we can expect things like this to pop up.
