Astro Dude
Does it have to be flip activated or can its effect be triggered when it's destroyed while face up or can be tributed? The 5000 points of damage infliction thing I mean.

evilfusion
Read the card. Now think: 1) Was this card flipped faceup? If yes, go to #3. If no, go to #2. 2) You don't take damage when this leaves the field. 3) Was its Flip Effect negated or otherwise rendered inactive, such as with Ceasefire? If yes, go to #2. If no, go to #4. 4) Did this card move from the field to the Graveyard by any means, including destruction, Tribute, or Synchroing? If yes, go to #5, if no, go to #6. 5) You take 5000 damage. 6) Did this card get removed from play, returned to the hand, or returned to the deck? If yes, go to #2. If no, go to #7. 7) So it's still on the field, right? If yes, you're good. If no, go to #5. Any questions?

According to rulings, it is not Damage in any way.... You just lose the Life. There is no Spell of Pain, Barrel Behind the Door, or Prime Material Dragon that can help.
