Club members are like Eastern European countries: they all vote for each other to win.

Please note: I'm not saying this includes trolling as I don't want to have another thread locked. If YOU want to talk about trolling, then it's your fault if this thread gets closed (I'd personally love to talk about it, but I unfortunately can't).

No one on the internet has friends. Merely acquaintances. And friendship isn't having about 15 people anonymously vote for you in a Poll for being in the same club as them. Did you see Fusion X. Denver vs. TheComposer? 19-5 to Fusion and the vast majority of posted votes were for TheComposer. Tell me that is friendship, and not everyone in the same club mindlessly voting like zombie sheep.

Did you understand the Eurovision comparison in the title? It's exactly like that.

B-But... People do respect me lol. Sure I may seem a little obsessed with Hentai but it`s truly who I am :)

You have respect anyway for being a good moderator and being banned unfairly.

Does having 15 people anonymously vote to back you up constitute "Respect and Admiration"? No.

The YMB is a popularity contest, like Zero says. If it were truly a "better member contest", who would decide that anyways?

The YMB is also located in General, and the Clubs and Organizations sections is located... well, in General. That section is by far the most active, and it makes since that most C&O members grow close to each other in their clubs, and thus, will vote for them when they see their friends are being matched up with other non-General/obscure members that they don't recognize. That's how I see it, anyways.

And what do you get if you win this YMB? A shiny banner to put in your forum signature... does it mean that much to you?

OT - Uh, I can't really think of anything I say regularly to incite anger from anyone. I certainly don't try to. xD

What makes you think people anonymously voting means they don't respect or admire you? Maybe they wanna avoid a big nasty confrontation, like this damn topic.

What makes you think people aren't so much voting FOR someone as much as they are voting AGAINST someone, regardless of who the opponent is?

Why do you think these votes need respect or admiration? It's YCM on the interbutts.

I know for a fact that you are familiar with "nasty big confrontations". You engage in them and cause them wherever and whenever you post. Adding to this veritable fountain of hypocrisy, you single-handedly invented the phrase "Terrible, next?" in the TCG section and now under your reign it is a warnable offence to post "Terrible, next?" posts without any further deliberation in the same post. That isn't my normal argumentative style, and I don't like arguing that way. I'll troll that way, but in an intelligent, civilised debate I will never argue that way. However, in a debate involving you, it is no longer "civilised".

What makes you think people aren't so much voting FOR someone as much as they are voting AGAINST someone, regardless of who the opponent is? If they were voting against someone, then it would be restricted to only a few select poll threads, while this phenomenon occurs in every thread involving a big figure from Clubs and Orgs.

Why do you think these votes need respect or admiration? It's YCM on the interbutts. In a contest when you are voting for the best member, you should be voting out of respect or admiration. Even on 4chan, the real arsehole of the internets, people get crowned King or Queen out of respect or admiration.

I have easily noticed that people in the same club stick together and vote for each other in these YMB threads, because they make it so obvious by saying, "oh, us [generic popular club's name here]ers need to stick together, so I'll vote for [the person in that club]".

Not like it's bad, but no need to post when your reasoning is bullshit and obvious.

I think it is bad when it means that members who actually do worthwhile things lose because of it. They don't deserve it.

I got knocked out in Round 1 of the previous YMB by Andx. To be honest, he deserved the Win.

RP experience is way more worthy then a Hentai obsession. I also made a new friend that day. :)

Also the Chibi Knights I hold in high regard due to my respect of Chibi's.

I respect you a lot and thought you were a fantastic moderator, but I voted for Enrise. Your club voting mentality put me off.

I still think you were unfairly banned.

The only reason I even got nominated was because I posted saying that I was to old to be remembered...the next thing I know I'm in. =/

I'd be cool to get a little sig bling, but I just like seeing who votes for me.
I posted saying the same thing and got ignored. I've never been nominated in the Member Brawl or even got a single vote in the YCM Awards. I finally got something in the Excess Brawl though, but I think that was only cause I posted a contrarian monologue and Josh was worried that I might get butthurt and BAWWWWWWW if I didn't win anything.

The thread title almost made me choke on a Kit Kat. It made my day. xD

But, it's a popularity contest on YCM brah. It kind of means nothing.

"Discuss things that you say that incite adverse reactions from others."

I never do such things intentionally, as it is beneath me; if my sarcasm gets out of line I ask those around me beforehand to inform me immediately as to when so I may correct myself. As it should be beneath you as well.

And J-Max was not unfairly banned, he knowingly broke a rule repeatedly. A rather severe one at that, and was banned as a result.

Moan b**** gripe whinge.

I only have one thing to say. To the original poster, cheer the f*** up.

...

As for the original question: I am as blunt as a sledgehammer because I don't see the point in tiptoeing around an issue. 'Darling, does this dress make me look big?' Well, yes, it does. You'd rather I'd say it was fine, and you go out looking porky?

(Don't worry that's an extreme example; I am a bit more tactful around the people posing that sort of question. :D )

I know I've got under the skin of a few people here, sometimes out of an innocent mistake or misunderstanding, sometimes because I wanted to be nasty or rude. In most cases differences of opinion have been patched up since and I get on with the majority.

I guess this is what I meant when I suggested there being a bit more to these tournaments(before the guy who hosted one of them PMS'd on me). And Q&A in the thread or some s*** like that so aren't restricted to just names and avatars in the voting threads would make these kind of topics a lot more interesting. Most of the great members have little exposure, whereas any derp can and usually does join a massive club to reel in votes.

Someone's mad.

Terrible, next? was back before I even had moderator powers, back before the rules were updated, so why you bring it up as some kind of hypocrisy is baffling. Terrible next is meant to dissaude people from bringing up terrible cards and terrible topics, and now I have a much more effective way of dissuading people to do that.

But if it helps you sleep at night, assume every time you see a locked topic in TCG, I really meant to write "terrible, next?" instead.

Sorry that I mistook your topic for an attempt at an intelligent conversation as opposed to you acting butthurt over YCM popularity contests.
