Lets say they printed this as a Yugimonz card:

Discard 2 of the other cards from your hand in order to search your deck for any card and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.

How would this effect the game?

Well, unless they add more downsides to it, it'd be broken. Gold Sarcophagus costly searches for any card, but makes you wait two turns. That card is semi-limited presently.

Pot of Duality lets you grab any card limited to the top 3 of the deck, but has restrictions on Special Summoning. Despite this, some people think it's banworthy.

Infernities would LOVE to have this.

But Pokemon TCG has an excuse.
They use their 'rotation system'.

YGO's the only major TCG I can think of that DOESN'T use rotation.

Still, I'm shocked everyone thought I was serious. This card's underwhelming in Pokemon (nowadays).

Aside from a balance gimmick, I'm not sure why a rotation-gimmick would be necessary.

I detected a bit of sarcasm, but wasn't exactly sure.

The rotation system is just to force people to buy new cards. Its a brilliant money making strategy. Be glad Yugioh hasn't adopted this.

The thing is, PKMN has good pull rates and generally lower singles prices for the better cards. They justify the rotation with something along the lines of "let us allow new players to have access to everything and not have to hunt down some rare, out of print card to play decently." Also, a smaller card pool is easier to balance.

It is because reprint sets almost doesn't exist...and some cards ARE necesary...instead of PKMN and MTG that can handle losing cards since they're in some for replaced by others each rotation

Serious?

I think Magic do it

>_>
Magic runs about 20 or so different formats.

PKMN runs 1 (though the Japanese rotation is usually different from everywhere else).

There isn't enough support for running it with all old cards to justify it. Assuming both players age good, then doing that would make it so the winner is whoever gets the second turn, no exceptions.

I think i should just stick to yugioh.

And if you think computer search is broken... Imagine this for yugioh play

There are way too many cards in Yu-Gi-Oh that either:

a) Are usable in the graveyard (Mezuki, Plaguespreader Zombie, Red Eyes Wyvern, Treeborn Frog, Necro Gardna, Spore, Dandylion, Glow Up Bulb, Vayu)
b) Can use the things in the graveyard (Dark Armed Dragon, Monster Reborn, Blizzard the Far North, Debris Dragon)

And way too many game changing cards (Dark Armed Dragon, Monster Reborn, Judgment Dragon, Mind Control)

And I haven't played in a long time, and most of this is just off the top of my head. >_>
