CinnamonStar
Oh and I bet people sure as hell know a lot about social anthropology at 15, or 17, or 12? People act the way they do on the Internet because they're hidden behind pixels. So you can pretend to be a badass revolutionary leader or smart philosopher behind the screen but be a total loser in real life.

[/quote] Maybe you fail to realize that often age does not play a part in knowledge. Sure, it may do in experience, but experience is most often lauded by physical professions rather than those that are mental. I have a non-internet tested IQ of 142. I read at least two books every single night, and have done for most nights of my life since the age of six. I am able to read ridiculously fast. I am highly proficient at mental arithmetic. I regularly write columns. I was the only person in my school ever to run for Mock Elections that was under the age of eighteen. I am a former Liberal Democrat youth member and a current Labour youth member. I am currently taking A-Level classes in Critical Thinking; we are doing Kant's views on ethics. You are easily displaying some classic online pretentiousness here...you dismiss anyone who argues against you as not mentally proficient without commenting on the argument at hand in your rebuttal. For god's sake grow some balls.
Pikachu
No, more like people are popular for doing something different. I made a club that exceeded standards for 08. Ok Clair is a great and kind person overall, great. J-Max shared hentai and is a great pop-culture member. Cool. Your list is just a bunch of rebels that YCM finds their actions entertaining, really. Glоrious
I think this has more to do with the mods than the actual people. All players have their time of mischief, but the popular ones stand out. Any wrong action they do raises more eyebrows and potential punishment simply due to the fact that they're well known. Anything can be viewed as wrong to the mods. And most mods hate the popular crowd due to the arrogance of that crowd. Also, I'd like to add that most popular users have a big post count. Post counts means they posted more. More posts means they likely did more mischief then other users.

It just says they have a huge commitment/chat circle around YCM. If you look at a YCMember's profile, you would rather give respect to a '08 with 5k posts rather than a '10 guy with 15k posts. But honestly, popularity is an abstract thing. A few people come to me and say I'm popular and they have no idea who I am. They just say I'm 'Pikachu'. That means nothing to me. ~/Coolio Prime\~
Pack mentalities largely define YCM. Rare are the people that don't "side" themselves with a group in any sort of argument, and as a result many specific opinions are faded into general beliefs that seldom differ. CinnamonStar
...wow I can't believe people take something others say so personally and get butthurt about it so fast.~_~ If you're not part of these people, then that's cool for you. I'm not going to add anything else to this besides that most of the time, people who claim about themselves to be oh so smart don't show what I consider smartness because arrogance rarely makes anyone smart. I never said that intelligence is related to age so don't turn my words around. But I don't buy it when people who have a history of behaving like 12, 15 or 17-year-olds try to sell us the biggest knowledge about philosophy or whatever. I'm not even saying any names so I don't know why you're pulling the "bawww butthurt, here's some long text to prove you wrong" stuff and I believe that you're interested into a lot of things. But it's not the case on all of YCM, we're really not the forum with the highest intelligence on the Internet.~_~ Btw I never mentioned anything about intelligence or trying to "prove opposed arguments as mentally deficient", that's more other people's role around here to do it. More like this: People get credit on this site for revolting against an Internet forum/"establishment" and thinking they look great with it now, but often not having the balls to do the same in real life. I find it questionable for example that the guy who was the main culprit behind the SD Dueler porn raids is an over 20-year-old who was bored because his wife wasn't giving him enough attention or something like that. Or that many of the popular member these days might be good at complaining about things, but show off a bad personality. Whereas when you don't pull out the arrogance stuff, you have it harder to become popular. So more like achievement than intelligence. That was my only "argument", now show me your proficient reading abilities and just make whatever you want of it. Classic online pretentiousness? Goes right back to you because at least not all my posts consist of it. I'm able to give kindness to people who deserve it. Whereas a good number of your posts do. And about "dismissing anyone who argues against you as not mentally proficient without commenting on the argument at hand in your rebuttal"? Well I still haven't heard why veganism would be an eating disorder in disguise. Humans are most likely omnivores and possibly these people are inflicting more pressure on themselves than others would, possibly they do go the extra mile due to their compassion for animals, but I don't see the eating disorder in there (Unless you mean a general disorder, in the sense of unnatural. Because in my books eating disorder means anything among the lines of anorexia nervosa, bulimia, obesity, just saying.)

CinnamonStar
Precisely. You probably also noticed that I'm using the kind of speech and attitude many people use around here, right? Not the kind of stuff I normally post. And it's annoying, isn't it? But at least I answered to all the questions that you asked, if you're unable or not bothering to "comment on the argument at hand in your rebuttal" either, than I'd like to close this and I don't really care about veganism supposedly being an eating disorder either anymore. But I still stand by my point that this forum doesn't have a very pleasant atmosphere and the more you flame people, the more popular you become (not always but much of the time). If you don't pull out the arrogance stuff and are just a regular guy who spends his free time on a forum, then you might have it harder. Make of it what you want. Masochistic Joker
Forums like these make a good place to go brain dead and start using horrible grammar like I am right now. Just because some jackass on here is being a jackass doesn't make him one behind the screen. Sure the morals, religious beliefs and old fashion values differ on here but the social differences which make it so interesting. Say the whole site was a bunch of Democratic Atheists, conversations would not be interesting nor would there be anything interesting. The pseudo multiple personalities people use online is common and you have to get adjusted to it. This site has imaginative members and scientific members but even they can be different offline. Yes, my post is a pile of random s*** but in my dumbed-down brain it makes a lot of since. In short: Internet Laws 1. Guys are guys 2. Guys are girls a. tits or gtfo 3. All kids are FBI agents 4. Achievements IRL are always bullshit until proven 5. Joker overrules Bruce Lee and The Game.
