Wahrheit
I must say first and foremost that this thread is not directed at any one group or individual or any collective group of them. It is about the principle in general and I ask that nobody take it personally. We can be at least a little mature. Personally, I find the amount of hypocrisy in the world interesting. We're all guilty of it in some way or another. People fighting for animal rights and then going home to enjoy a juicy hamburger... saying support the troops but buying cloths made in China... and then things on a more individual scale, like parents or managers or other people telling you to do one thing then doing another. The worst is when you're told two things by opposing but equally ranked parties... work is so fun. What kind of contradictions and hypocrisy do you guys notice in the world? How does it make you feel?
CinnamonStar
People fighting for animal rights and then going home to enjoy a juicy hamburger...
That's not true, there are more and more vegans in the world. But yeah I dislike these people too, I don't understand it when my bf's parents hug their dog while eating a steak.-.- Or when people are shocked that in some countries in the world others eat dogs or snakes, but apparently it's totally normal to eat chicken or porc. But somehow there will always be contradictions even when you try to get past them. Some people think that because I sew most of my own clothes, it's a good way to go past the children work and exploitation in eastern countries. I know that the clothes are sewn by me but who knows if the fabric doesn't come from Uzbeskistan or if cotton is picked by children? And if you're a vegan, you might still own a camera with a gelatine film, until you decide to leave in the jungle.
Humans are animals. Humans are high up in the food chain. Humans are genetically programmed to eat meat. Humans are intelligent enough to have conscious thought, therefore we are proficient at making our lives and eating habits easier. Veganism and Vegetarianism only really sprung up in the 20th century. On moral grounds, Vegetarianism has some justification, yet Veganism is a different matter. Choosing not to eat animal products that are taken from the animal without harm is at heart a strange notion, but the Vegan community are whiny. They belittle, they squawk, they complain about anyone who disagrees with them. I have no problem with Vegans themselves, but I have a problem with the Vegan community as a whole. Then there is the matter that humans are natural meat-eaters. If you are so bothered about maltreatment of animals in battery farms then why don't you just eat free range meat and drink milk from free range cows? I can understand aversion to flesh, but why go the extra mile and exclude things that the animal produces anyway that can be taken without harm? But that is an agreeable view. People continuously develop technology and continuously intend to improve everything there is to improve to get closer to that perfection. Unfortunately, it will never happen. As long as statistics and parameters exist, nobody will ever stop and truly appreciate how far we've reached out. That is - as long as the given entities do exist, people will further strive to better them no matter what. It isn't even a strong resolve or dedication, anymore. What do you think?
