'tyleR
Japan got hit by an 8.9 earthquake, Haiti got hit by a 7. Japan's earthquake is almost 2 levels higher on the Richter Scale than Haiti. Even the aftershocks could be just as powerful. This is insane.
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Natural disaster is terrible news as always. Waves caused by quake expected to hit New Zealand soon, which really sucks since they are still recovering from an earthquake or something themselves. Thoughts and prayers... Ovedrive
Japan got hit by an 8.9 earthquake, Haiti got hit by a 7. Looking at the pic, the epicenter is pretty close to the coast (On the north-eastern part). Afterschocks will probably be terrible.
.:Raging Man:.
I heard that its going to reach the US West Coast and South America. I never thought that this was possible. 8.9 is crazy.
Cin
Japan got hit by an 8.9 earthquake, Haiti got hit by a 7. Japan's earthquake is almost 2 levels higher on the Richter Scale than Haiti. Even the aftershocks could be just as powerful. This is insane.
Depth of epicenter plays a Key Role. In Tokyo there's no reported building collapses, Japan are better prepared than most for such events, but it still can catch you off guard and bring buildings down even if they were considered Earthquake proof. 30Ft is fairly large for a Tsunami, but not the highest on record. Alaska holds that record of 52ft

DARKPLANT RISING
At least I was Ok, though I had to walk 2 hours to go back to home from where I was when the earthquake ended, since all trains had stopped. Though some parts of Japan are worse.
'tyleR
Update: Cali is being hit by 8 foot waves, and there is apparently a radiation leak from a nuclear plant in Fukishima, which will prove very bad if not dealt with quickly.
Deathcore
Damn, I just read about earthquakes and tsunamis yesterday in Science. Weird. Man, 8.9 is hugely powerful. I hope and pray everyone is okay and the number of deaths are minimal. How many reported deaths are there, if any? Man, those rocks must have been bending for quite a few years before the earthquake hit. I'm praying for everyone. I never like to see something like this happen. Catterjune
Thoughts and prayers and all that, but I'm rather surprised/impressed by how many buildings were still standing after the quake. Some excellent earthquake-proofing they got over there.

EHN.
They are prepared for earthquakes, but not freaking 8.9 richter scale and then a freaking tsunami.
Deathcore
I just read where they had to evacuate the Twilight cast who was filming in Vancouver because of a tsunami warning. One of the stars even tweeted this might be her last tweet. I died laughing when I read that. 337 reported deaths? Well, that's less than what I would think a 8.9 earthquake could cause. I still pray for them. I agree, Japan looks prepared for a earthquake, but not something of this magnitude.
