ihop Posted March 30, 2011 Report Share Posted March 30, 2011 So I get up at like 6.30 in the morning (far too early for me) and walk to the bus stop, where I wait for like 5 minutes before deciding to go to abbeydale road to get a bus, where I just about manage to get one. Me and my mate Will spend like 10 minutes walking around the Wicker before we notice the ramp up to the hotel. Round 1: Vayu Turbo 1- I open double Chain Energy and manage to get a few thousand off him and then flip stealth birds he can't get around. 2- He summons Scrapfag and generally bosses the field with that and I can't draw my Golems. 3- He manages to summon Scrapfag and Brionac on 900 and would have game but I top Golem. It takes me until round 3 to notice this is the guy that won last time. 1-0 Round 2: FishTK (Lee Brook) 1- After a bit of small play he shows me my hand of like Bigfish and Trunade with Toad and treeborn in Grave, I ask him to play it out so he drops LADD and can control the game. 2- Again he summons LADD which I manage to play round and Mirror Force but he summons back Bigfish, puts me on 100 and I have Chain Energy and Toll on field. 1-1 Round 3: Anti-Meta 1- Yay for a good matchup! He can't win fast enough and he can't stop me making any of my plays. 2- After some Grand moling my set cards he is on 1300 with TKRO and Cydra on field and me on like 1500, he attacks for game but he pays 500 then I just desserts. 2-1 Round 4: Dragfags The guy sacks me like crazy, drawing Ravines and Duxes all the time and then dropping Scrapfags that I can't get around. He also Trap Holes my solar flare... 2-2 Round 5: Samurai 1- I can Golem his Shi En and Barkion and I get toll and chain energy late game to win. 2- I open double Chain Energy, he MSTs one but I can draw like 4 off Maxx C and top Golems at the right time again. 3-2 Round 6: Sabers (Chad Lloyd) Both times he destroys me with Hyunlei and Warnings my Starlight, and I forget to pitch Maxx C 3-3 I make day 2 in 102nd. Round 7: ? The guy doesn't turn up. Yay. 4-3 Round 8: Sams 1- The guy has Kizan, Kageki and Kagemusha on the field, and goes for Mist Wurm, which I scarecrow. He hasn't good a Barkion or Shi En to protect him so I can win easily. 2- He opens Gateway and 2 United. Need more be said? 3- He sides in Yaichis and Kamons which wreck, but I chain Nightmare Wheel to his Yaichi and finally top a Golem to win it. 5-3 I end up 62nd. Not bad not bad. The ONLY problem I kept having last format was book of moon being at 3 and saving Caius and BRD from my frikken fiendish chains. That wont' be a problem this format. In fact I just keep up with card releases and such for RP/Fan Fic purposes with a few occasional DMG and WC plays, but I guess top 64 is not that bad judging by the large playerbase in the US (I asume?). There were about 230 people. But yeah, I never said the Deck was worthy to top UkayPro but it was topped by Sabers so I didn't stand much chance anyway. It's just a very inventive deck and possibly the best sort of burn we can turn out in the current Meta and with the current cardpool. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get very far, but you were 30 spots from being top 32. And considering that there were well over 100 decks that did worse than yours, no doubt a number being Meta, you can step back knowing you didn't "fail" in a sense. Just before round 1 started, the head judge said "oh, and Elemental Hero the Shining is not legal for this tournament". There was a sea of people either being disappoint or people lolling at the people that were disappoint. Either that or talking about Konami being stupid and banning Jump Promos from Europre. Whole tournament was a bit disappointing IMO but it was still a good weekend, managed to trade a warning for a pile of trade bait worth like £80, with 3 secret Gobzoms, 3 Secret Cydras, 2 Pineapples, a Secret JD and like loads of other random stuff.
