The Patrick Miracle

Authorities are calling it one of the worst cases of animal abuse they’ve ever seen.

One week ago, March 16, 2011, workers at Newark apartment complex were removing garbage from a chute and into a compactor; they noticed something in a bag move.

When they looked inside they discovered a young, red, mixed pit bull, barely alive. After surviving through the night, the dog was named Patrick on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.

Patrick is a red pit bull mix, perhaps one or two years old. He lived in an apartment house known to harbor drug dealers, users. Whoever ‘owned’ him obviously forgot there was a living creature in his / her care. This pup was starved, placed in a trash bag and tossed down a 22 story garbage chute. His survival is a miracle indeed.

Newark Animal Control was called to the Garden Spires apartment building, a 550-unit complex after the discovery of the severely abused dog was reported. The pup was near death, and in such horrific shape that some animal control personnel said it pushed them over the edge.

Patrick was taken to 24-hour Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, N.J. Patrick’s bones were sticking out of what flesh was left on his body, he had no body temperature, yet he wanted to survive.

It has been a week, and this pup is now able to stand for a minute or two. His condition is still listed as guarded, and donations are for his care are coming in from around the globe.
So... tl;dr pitbull was starved then thrown down a 22 story garbage chute, and was found just hours before death. Then just barely was nursed back to life.

Not a happy story, and as a dog owner, this really sickens me.

=[ Time to put down the owner of that dog. Even if you didn't or couldn't keep it, don't just throw it in the trash and possibly let the thing get crushed to death. Leave it on a leash by the street (with a sign saying you dont want), or take it to the Local Animal Shelter. SOMETHING.

As a soon to be dog owner, I want to kill the person!
Because that will make you better than the person who half-killed the dog.

To me, this is just disgusting, someone who actually has the mind to do something like that deserves to go to jail. I am truly thankful there are animal protection laws. .-.

You're doing this to a dozen small African children every time you purchase anything from Samsung.
