Royal Oppression

Recommended Posts

Oppression is both good and bad for the game.

Firstly, it forces players to work around it, but it's one of those cards that is only used in decks that can exploit it, like Blackwings (Vayu is immune), anti-meta (which rarely Special Summons), Gadgets (same), or any deck that can bring out a large monster and can hide behind it while the opponent struggles to overcome either this or the monster.

The fact the game has become one where Special Summoning is so crucial to a deck makes this card unfair. It can be used multiple times and just shuts down a key playstyle and mechanic for a small cost.

If that argument is used, Summon Limit is Broken.
Only 2 summons(In general) per turn.

Have you ever seen an XYz Gadget Deck use 2 Summons per turn?
No
Or Blackwings
It is not the same logic at all
Nothing can hide well behind Summon Lomit and it is much easier to get around, though it does take some stradegy
It still stops decks that love spamming... and could seriously slow down SixSams and FishTK

Why isn't Summon Limit used?

There goes the anti-meta... Special Summon lover, much?
(hmm... it is limited though, why complain about a 1/8 chance to draw this card when it is needed?)

Trololol.

It aint gonna be banned, because it can be used by either side. That being said... Imma go buy one, along with Royal Trib and Royal Decree... and a Cat of Ill Omen, so I can draw this card easier.

You started off really good... and then you got to the bold... and you just FAILED
1 GKs should NOT run Decree and NEVER run cat of Ill Omen unless you are using some bad Final Destiny Deck, lol

If Oppression could only be used once per turn, it'd be fine.

Summon Limit just puts a...summon....limit.

Oppression negates Special Summons, negates Effects that Special Summon, and destroys the cards. It can generate advantage because of this. You either need to deplete your opponent's LP to the point where using this is a risk or impossible, destroy this, or stop Special Summoning because attempting to will just set you back more resources.

With Synchros playing heavily into the meta, a lot of decks carry low ATK monsters that can be Special Summoned to make a Synchro Summon easier. This stops them cold.

And again, the decks that run this usually are the ones that don't need it.

It's fine where it is, since it's for both players.

I was joking. Thought it was common knowledge that Cat isn't good. GK's doesn't do Decree, but I like it... And my friend plays a 60 card deck with 30 traps (He's retarded, but not literally) So I would use it a bit (but not competitively). Plus I love cats... and I think Cat of Ill omen is much more of a man than rescue cat XD

On topic;

Oh yeah, can you not negate Synchro's with this, since ANY summon from the extra deck is a Special Summon?

Special Summons run rampant as it is. Decks need to slow down a bit. Never forbid this card =.=;
[/quote]

This.

This card is one of the few that can actually slow down the Meta.

Which is a good thing.
