When you're playing GBs, you don't want your Murmillo/Retiari/Equeste/weak GB to be destroyed when you tag into it, so you make this guy to keep them live in your deck. Not to mention it lets Darius makes a beater that can run over a large selection of cards in a pinch. Essedarii also fattens your deck so that when you're down to topdecking you won't always lose. White Void Posted June 15, 2011 Report Share Posted June 15, 2011 Essedarii makes Darius have much more of a purpose by recycling dead GBs and it also makes the ones like Murmillo much more potent since they don't have to sit on the field vulnerable after being tagged in. It's a 2500 beater that puts GB where they want to be for free. Counts toward Chariot too which is always a plus. Though he would be arguably less valuable if Darius did not exist, would still be nice overall though. Tygerius is just poorly designed and does not contribute to the deck whatsoever.
