Alright guys, DK has a slight dilemma.

Recommended Posts

So...this is basically what's going to happen. I might be going to a Yugioh tournament with a friend of mine this Saturday. The bad news? I have never been in a tournament before and my friend hasn't dueled people around here (so he doesn't know how tough competition will be). But he does have quite a bit of experience in tournaments and warned me against Fairies like the one in the new structure deck (Lost Sanctuary), Six Samurai, and X Saber.

So...my request is this. Could you guys give me some decent advice on this? I'm going to be making a deck from scratch for this, so ideas on that would be much appreciated as well. But I'm avoiding sticking to a main archtype for two reasons. One, it's easy to get shut down once your opponent figures out your archtype strategy. Two, I don't have enough of a certain archtype to make an awesome deck. So I have to make a deck around a different focal point.

Any ideas or suggestions?

AND YES THIS IS A GENERAL TOPIC ABOUT ME DOING SOMETHING IN REAL LIFE! SO DON'T MOVE IT!

OTK = One. Turn. Kill

Seriously? Its the most used one

I understood OTK...it's like the only one I know. But when you say things like "Shapesnatch OTK" I have no idea what kind of strategy you are referring too.

Oh, me neither.

But with Tourney advice, try to scout around the place and see what decks your up against, and remember whos playing those decks.

And with that mold your play style to overcome what can beat you.

So basicly unless you know how to beat certain decks, do some reaserach and get the cards to check the decks you fall to.

/End of noobish heart of the cards believe in your pokemon rant.

make a deck with alots of mixed cards i have a zombie/blackwing deck with alot of surporting cards to go with it on yugioh 5d (xbox 360)

trust me a "chocolate vanilla swirl deck" is munch better than a "chocolate deck" or a "vanilla deck"

but do not go to crazy you mix alot of different stuff you deck will not flow or will not work

What?

No... what the hell are you talking about...

Like all decks, it should have a theme, and a goal. You start with a base, and shape the rest of the cards to attain that goal and/or protect yourself from threats that could potentially disrupt you causing you to lose.

I started collecting these cards YEARS ago. I still have my original Dark Magician. In other words, I didn't grow up with all this Synchro, XYZ, archtypes, etc. But I made some beast decks! :D But with all these new cards...I'm not sure how I should counter. And yes, I do have newer cards. I actually have a few synchros that my friend traded me when he decided I needed to get into them. But...I still love my older cards. So I'm thinking of creating a deck with a lot of my older cards and face these modern peeps and see how I fare. Hmm...of course, my deck will be mixed with a basic strategy. Get high attacking monster on the field as quickly as possible. protect said monsters, and keep my opponent's field cleared.

That or I try my hand at a water deck...hmm....

DK, the thread concerns the card game and you needing help for a tournament. Be sensible, General is not where you should be posting this. Moved to TCG.

Now guys, I know how this'll end up, but try to be helpful.
[/quote]

Yeah...I know...but I'm kinda afraid of TCG...so that's why I posted it in General. I can fend off the devils in that section. :3

OT:Make Krookodile Spread.

Really OT:I suggest making either a fairy deck from 3 Lost sactuary SDs or a machina (Synchro variants are rather fas, but Expensive.)(You can get a list for the Deck you want from the request thread in 'Your Deck' section.)

The tournament is this Saturday...I found out last night. So I'm trying to make a deck from my current collection. So I'm kinda wanting advice like, "Use cards that do this and this so you can stop this." instead of, "Use [insert name of card] with two copies of [insert name of card]." If you know what I mean. ^^

A general misconception. It's true, you can side cards to make an easier match up, but its not an end all if your opponent figures out what you play. Main archetypes win official tournaments because they do well against a multitude of things. My suggestion would be to buy 3 of the Agent Angels Structure Deck and someone could give you a competitive decklist.

However, if you want to continue playing I suggest looking on duelingnetwork.com and find an archetype that fits your style.

Well that depends, what do you have a lot of? If worst comes to worst, you could make an Vanila beatdown deck.

I was sort of in the same boat; I've only been to locals a few times.

I bought 3 copies of the Lost Sanctuary Structure Deck, 1 Gold Series 4, and traded for Dark Bribes and I'm pretty much good to go. Agents are a really solid Decktype, and if you play the Counter Fairies variant that I play, you can get major hand advantage rather quickly. I'd suggest something like that, and it wouldn't cost over $60, really.

I have a bit of high powered vanillas. Dark Magician, Blue Eyes (very old copies too), Summoned Skull, etc. I also have a vast collection of rituals, so maybe I can do something with those. I don't think people do that a lot. I also have plenty of traps that counter attack and stuff. Like Magic Cylinder, [insert hard to pronounce name] that negates the attack and destroys the monster, draining shield, another card like draining shield, etc. Spell wise, I have a few of the older field spells, lots of equip cards, quite a few spells that help spell casters, etc.

oh, um.....You might just want to buy Lost Santcuary then. Oh, and are you talking about Demise, Ruin, Northwenko, as for rituals, or Hungry Burger, Crab Turtle, and Preformance of Sword?
