Yeah, well, babies can't look at a chart outlining the pros and cons of circumcision and make an informed decision based on that. Circumcision is just part of a culture.

Circumcision can be done at older ages. Sure, it might hurt more if I get circumcised at the age of seven and not the age of one, but that isn't really all too relevant. The point is that a seven-year-old can read and understand a pros-and-cons chart, they have the cognitive capability to process the information, and unlike most of the people in this thread (not an insult, read what I said), will be able to make an informed decision for themselves.

Also, circumcision isn't a cultural thing so much as it is a religious thing. And I'm a stout believer that a child isn't born into a religion, so there is no reason to circumcise the child of Jewish parents when the child isn't Jewish until he rationally chooses to be. So if a child chooses not to get circumcised, why are you guys making a big fuss over it? It has no health benefits, the child is not part of a religion at the time of birth, so why are you forcing something on a child?

Let's say I believe that people under the age of 10 aren't human beings. Can I kill them? If you have any links to some actual evidence that shows that pre-birth human organisms are significantly less capable of coherent thought, please share them. I'm totally serious, I'd really love to see them.

No, you're right. A fetus has the same cognitive capacity as someone your age - in fact, I'd dare to say that a fetus has the same cognitive capacity as you. And it'd be a true statement, so I guess you win.

He supports it being the mother's decision until she has given birth to the child

Never really liked you as a General-goer (even though you rarely post here), but you pretty much hit the nail on the head - but let me go further.

I don't support abortion once you get into the second trimester of pregnancy, and I sure as hell do not support it once you're in the third trimester. By that time the fetus is so developed that it has the significant coherent features of a human being, it has cognitive processing and is recognized to be the general definition of "human life". There's a reason that abortion is only legal until the first trimester ends, and I wouldn't push that date too farther back.

>makes no difference

...please read the goddamn thread before you post, hon. :/

I was referring to the difference between a day-old infant and a fetus about to be born. Gawsh... >__> I was asking a serious question...

I know how irrelevant to the point this is, but could you please tell me why? If you don't mind, of course. I would not take your opinion offensively.

This is something that should be discussed through private messages, do you not think so?
