I thought the humans were supposed to be dwindling in forces...how can they when they have things that CAN'T DIE?

Erm...anyways, I know why it was printed but it doesn't match the flavor of the set. This probably should have been printed in the inevitable war that the next set will bring

He can still die, just he's trained to kill the horrors. Really, he's more or less the humans last line of defense for humans.

IMO, not going to be a war, since the humans are clearly slowly losing control.

And this is different than Scars of Mirrodin...how, exactly?

Scar block started with the Phyrexians taking over. This is much more akin to New Phyrexia with it just being the lands strands of "humanity" fighting to stay alive.

No..this block starts with some angel chick leaving and so everyone is like zomg why won't she help?!?!?!! kinda like Karn in scars. Seriously, magic storylines are getting so unoriginal. It's become Intro - Conflict - Closing for all of them.

You know what would be a nice change of pace? The good guys winning.

No, it doesn't start with her leaving, she left a while ago. Now the humans are dealing with the lost of their magical protector.

They lets go over the last 4 blocks
Lorwyn/Shadowmoor: Good guys didn't loss or win.
Shards: Good guys kind of won.
Zendikar: Good guys "loss" but the battle more or less starts as the block closes
Scars: Bad guys win.

Really, that is the only time when the bad guys actually win in the the past while. Sure there re gray areas for the others, but some of those weren't even conflicts, just catastrophes. And maybe things start so low here because miss Angel is going to come back and save everyone act 3.

That art is better.
