Icy
First off. As much as some would hate to say, the quality of reviews have gone up substantially over the last few months regardless, only problem is what caused it and what is still going on is both the same thing and that isn't always a good thing. More like a double edged sword. However, the quality and way some of you word yourselves is still not up to par with what most of us believe the quality of review posters as well as cardmakers should be. The only time they should be minute is when the reviewer in question is new or doesn't decide to manipulate or force others to make changes based on their opinions. Remember everyone, this is a game of creation and no matter what the native card game may say, your goal is to do that and creativity should go unhindered but still with some form of non-manipulative standardization. This behavior of manipulative standardization also causes the second problem. A majority of you assume that's what makes and breaks a card or it's following set. That is not true by any viewpoint, as all the greater cardmakers and those that brought into practice the many terms or habits that you all use today, didn't follow any effort on that and only used it to further their own unique process. That in turn also means that most cards appear to be the same, except from newbies. Some are creative, yes and some are definitely unique yes. But nearly all of you lack that extra oomph and incentive that takes you from casual people to great hobbyists. There is an uncomfortable baseline that seldom few of you ever pass. All linked to this standardization. Now I'm not saying being mildly manipulative is a bad thing, by no means. The duty of a moderator on this forum's first duty is to boost activity among the new members; especially in Custom Cards. Promote their cards, help them, say nice things and all that get them to post more. But when this behavior becomes problematic on quality and all we're left with his quantity instead it's something we must tackle (not all follow this but I will not name name's for ethical reasons). From balance to creativity, to synergy and understanding. You're expected to show some growth with that along your process of both creating and reviewing cards. Sure you aren't expected nor required to play the game and post cards along with others but it is certainly encouraged with the utmost emphasis on doing both. So you not only see and repeat what others may do but also experience and receive your own critique and consideration by others. Also, many of you may or may not have a creative rival of any kind. While this is not a requirement, it certainly helps with it all. You get motivated, you reach out, you study and you challenge one another. When I started off on YCM, my first "rival" was none other than Huntar, J-Max, Essence, Zalpyr and on occasion Yankeefan/Dj Osiris. We strove to surpass each other, even if in a superficial sense and look at all of us? All by 1 of us became moderators at some point or another. You see, you create, you embrace, you understand and you participate. [s]To that end, we (well part of the Moderating Custom Cards Team) (as well as 1 fortunate and quality selected reviewer each week) will introduce something in the following days that will what we hope will remedy a majority of these problems. And give you all that extra thing you oh so desperately need.[/s]
.Rai
Well, it's true, Josh. I can never really deny something said by the Doctor. 'Nice' isn't my forté, but I'll sure try.
J-Max
I thank you for creating this Topic Josh and refering to me as a Former Rival After reading this, I have decided to start to review a few cards on here. The Reviews may not be in-depth but I will try to point out Good and Bad Points.

I did some Naruto and all around Anime Cards that reflected on the series properly instead of just being the series in name only. Then you started the Pokevolution project a little afterwards, as well as some minor cards before. So yeah, in this context you were a "rival". Field Monsters were also a result of your desire to get on my level of creativity.
.Rai
You know, there was a suggestion in the Comments and Suggestions section which may help. To do with tutoring. If newer members could want more experienced members to help them with cards, take them through a course, per say, then they can improve that way. There was an extremely similar centre to that in Showcase a while back which a few members helped in.
J-Max
True. My Field Monsters (later known as Field Chibi's) was my way of catching up to you as a Card Maker. You and Darth taught me a lot in my early days and Pokevolution was started way back in 2008 (originally as merely using the Images) I may have lost my touch a little over the last Year but Pop Culture is easily the place that I could let myself go and really enjoy Card Designing. You should be proud mate, you made me who I am today
NumberCruncher
Not many newcomers wander by the Written Cards Section, but I'll be sure to be nice if one does show. It will be very uncharacteristic of me, but I'll be nice anyway.
Icy
I just put this here because I do not wish to clutter the RC sticky limit should Mikhail want anything. And it's a directly blog and discussion topic, no need to touch RC/PC/AoC with it. Here is fine as word of mouth. This topic does apply to all CC sections however and JUST being nice to newbies isn't the point here... it's about the problems I and other people see. I just wanted to give the "All clear" on this section in particular.
Mehmani
Hey, don't take all the credit! The whole "Increase Reviewing Standards to make CC a better place" thing was my idea Though Josh should be commended for his work moderating CC, and actually letting me be king of my own little world. Icy
Moved here. I got the data I needed for Segment 2, so when I have everything written I'll add it; for now Realistic Cards can see it.
