OT: Wish they expanded the concept
I was actually going to say the same thing...

The concept would have been great if expanded. Only problem I see would be Grand Mole's NEX'd version, only because of the "Harpie Lady Syndrome" that would affect him (Grand is still @1, both in Advanced and Traditional. Sure, they could print NEX Grand Mole, but the inability to use it would make me sad. :-[ )

... And for a bit of slight-off-topic, I had sent Konami an idea for Dark Panther's NEX form.

... Of course, had I known beforehand that they don't accept ideas from "the public", I would not have even bothered.... TT__TT

Except that all NEX Neo-Spacians (and by "all", I mean "the two that currently exist") have their names treated as their original counterpart, even in the Extra Deck.

Except all the name dictates is that you cannot have more than 3 in combination in the deck. Grand Mole is limited, NEX mole would not be, so even if Grand Mole is limited, NEX mole does not have to abide by the limit and can still be run.

Okay, I dunno if this ruling is still official, but maybe this will help clear up what I'm trying to say here:
"Neo-Spacian Marine Dolphin" is treated as "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" for purposes of Deck construction. So, you can have a combined total of thee copies of this card and "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" in your Main Deck and Side Deck. If you have 2 copies of "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" in your Main Deck, you can only have 1 copy of "Neo-Spacian Marine Dolphin" in your Fusion Deck.
... In theory, this would apply to all NEX-Spacians. But, again, it appears this ruling may no longer be official....

It's the same thing as Harpie Lady 1/2/3 and A Legendary Ocean. The name is what determines deck construction rules. The banlist counts all cards of that name. So, if all NEX Spacians have the text "this card's name is treated as X..." without specifying on the field or similar, then it counts as that in the deck, which is why Grand Mole's NEX form wont be made, unless they say "while on the field" or something (which frankly, all of them should have said).

But no card like that has ever been limited, so how would we know?

I mean, it makes no sense that you couldn't have 1 Grand Mole and 1 NEX Mole. Nex Mole shares a NAME but is NOT the same card.

If that was true, why can't we have more than 3 Harpie Lady because Harpie Lady 1, 2, 3, and Cyber Harpie share a NAME but is NOT the same card.

The banlist is the exact same as the "3 per deck" rule, except it's less than 3.

We always known when card design is BAD when it shares a name with another card, but not only when it's on the field (Harpie Queen, Proto Cyber) or Graveyard (Cyber Zwei)
