Troy Davis got executed

Excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea who Troy Davis is.

*Wikipedia*

Oh. So this is like Anti-Casey Anthony (being charged and executed for a crime he didn't commit, I mean).

Speaking of which: Two failed cases, already. What the hell is wrong with the Judicial Branch nowadays? A [Wikipedia says a million, but, you know, it's Wikipedia] people signed petitions to set him free. Why would they deny him freedom?

Well I didn't know who he was a few years ago either, but yeah, it's another case of justice failure.

He was accused of killing a policeman, however 7 of the 9 witnesses withdrew the accusations because they weren't too sure anyway. I mean, 7 out of 9...o_o
Then other witnesses said that they saw someone else shooting the policeman.<_<
So there's no certainty about what happened whatsoever.

God that must be horrible for his family.>_> And I'm sure that the case is going to be dropped and sealed forever.

They traced the bullet in the guy he shot in the face earlier in the day before shooting the cop and the bullets from the cop shooting back to his gun. The witnesses that recanted did so years later, probably because of community pressure. They're now trying to say his friend (who was smart enough to go to the police about it and even admitted to owning the same type of gun during the trial) did it.

Really, this is the case of the judicial system trying to get the case over with, and Davis happened to be the best target.

I really hope the family members of Mark MacPhail suffer. Not because they wanted justice for losing him, but because some members of the family actually smiled when Davis was executed. Death is nothing to be happy about. They should know.

In the words of Gandhi, "An eye for an eye makes the world blind." The hell would killing a guy who killed another guy accomplish? Worst part about it was that he was sedated about an hour before he was supposed to be executed, but they put it on hold for 3 hours in case the supreme court decided to overturn the decision of the court that convicted him. They didn't though and the sedative had already probably worn off by that time so he felt it.

The death penalty should only be used in cases where the suspect is a complete a****** and the jury knows it and witnesses can prove it. Therefore, instead of lethal injection, I say we just take the person out back and shoot them with a shotgun.

This case to me is manslaughter.

We already do that, but this case failed to follow the rules. Also, if we executed people on the spot, there is much room for error. (We would save loads of money though.)

Casey had no direct evidence and was let go, even though she [probably] killed her daughter.

This guy had no direct evidence and was executed, even though he [probably] didn't do the deed he was accused of.

Yupp, sounds like America.

It's because she was a white woman and he was a black guy. Sad but true.

Sorry I'm so late on this, but yeah, this disgusts me. If we look at professional athletes, they often get off with payable fines and a lack of jail time. To send a man to his death with no certain evidence while these people run free is sooo wrong.
