yugioh in middle school

For some reason at my middle school (going to high school  ) they thought you were a huge dork if you played yugioh. And I didnt reveal that until the last day when I had bought a couple of yugioh packs that morning wich the wrappers were still in my pocket. I pulled them out then returned them quickly but a kid saw and starting telling other kids. I was the dork of the school for the rest of the day. Has anyone ever called you a dork or thought you were to old for playing yugioh?

Sorta...

Just to say before I truly begin my little piece I the type who will only punch if someone hurts my friends or family, emotionally or physically.

Me and my friends during middle school played a game of yugioh every Friday during lunch or breakfast, some dork, yea I said dork comes in and starts making fun of what we play and us for that matter, dude ends up writhing in the floor in pain with a hurt gut by my fist and we continue playing our game.

Lol, so would I. No one in my school, or my normal friends know I play Yugioh.

The only people who play yugioh at my school are (or used to be) just two people. A red-headed kid, and some other dude, they played during my lunch period. People made fun of them sometimes.

It sucks because my school is full of insecure people who feel the need to put other people down... not good...

Pokemon is to simple...I remember I bought a booster pack...i pulled out a flashy card and I sold it for 20$. THen the next time...another one! It made me 40$ richer, but I spent it all on deck construction on a game called Yu-Gi-Oh :D Pokemon is not as fun for me too, I gave it up after my second Booster Pack.

Yeah, good luck with that...

I bought some cards off my friend (eighty cards for $10, there were a pair of Supers and an Ultra in there [although the Ultra was a starter Relinquished so that nullifies it somewhat...]) And people... actually didn't care. A few idiots came up to me and began with "Oh, you play Yu-Gi-Oh, do ya?!"

I just simply reply: "Yes. And?" That kinda shuts them down a bit. When you get right down to it, nobody really cares.

As for people who play, three of my friends play, and there are two more who play outside of that group. Odd thing is, about half of the people in my grade actually OWN Yu-Gi-Oh cards, which they bought like four years ago when it was all the craze, and they all still know most of the rules, and probably would get right back to playing if it became "cool" again. Stupid social stereotypes.

At my school it kinda went like this...

When Pokemon was a craze and you didn't like Pokemon nobody liked you. If you liked Pokemon after the craze ended, nobody liked you.

Same with Yugioh, except it was never really a craze and either a few people don't like you for liking it, or they don't care if you like it.

yea we used to have a "Yugioh Club" durring activity period (FYI: everyone in the school selects an activity from the list and once a week you get to do the activity) and we hade 4-20 members (i was in it for 1+1/2 years) but then they got rid of activity period for "Advisory" (dumb :P )(you are supposed to talk about ur problems, but everyone just hangs out.)

Actually, I know a guy exactly like that.

He bought some cards off of a friend of mine, maybe it was like, 40 bucks though... Or it might've been 40 cards... IDK

As for me, only my closest friends know I play [They don't go tom y school]

And uhh... Yeah there are people at my school who play, and some people try to take advantage of them, but it really doesn't faze them... I actually respect them a lot because they don't care what others think. They just play!

On the contrary, at our school, i long time ago, yugioh was the biggest thing around. Nearly everyone whos anyone who loved the game had cards. Everyday, wed hideout in our own little, metal car slide every day at recess on the playground. Then some idiot faked having his cards stolen, the school banned them and the school lived miserably ever after. The End.

To this day, im like, the only one in the school that i know of who actually likes the game, anymore.

The reason people above the age of 11 who play yugioh get made fun of, is because yugioh involves fantasy. Fantasy is typically associated with younger kids. If you're into the TV show aspect of yugioh and you're older than 11, it just means your brain isn't maturing as fast as others, that's all.
