Northern Sage
No. Just seriously, no. TL:DW: New act makes you a criminal for uploading a single video with copyrighted material. It also holds websites responsible for the uploaded material. And censors the Internet. It's also being forced through the government. Discuss.

Legend Zero
You can't police the Internet. Also, 80% of Americans in jail sounds hilarious.
.Rai
I swear NO-ONE gets this anyway :S 1. The PROTECT IP Bill is the S. 968 bill. S 968 is the categorization of it. So, whatever the title means, I don't know. 2. The Bill will only affect those who use pirated, unauthorized material for profitable purposes. > People playing games on YouTube. > Not profitable. End of problem. Unless for some reason that playing a game that you bought legally, and showing other people, is copyright infringement, NO-ONE NEEDS TO WORRY. AT ALL.

But, seriously, it isn't copyright infringement and it's already been made clear that YouTubers are safe from the bill.
Cin
Cursed you remember how Nintendo clamped down on Serebii, Pokebeach and others for just showing images/videos from the newly released BW ?
I do actually. To be honest, that's only because Nintendo care about their publicity in a different way to other companies. The majority of the video gaming industry quite like these playthroughs etc about their games, since it's kinda free publicity. Nintendo just has what seems to be a different marketing approach. Wait, this happened AFTER BW was released? Or before? If before, it makes sense. If after, it makes none in the slightest. Because it's not copyright infringement, really. It's just more free advertising, but Nintendo caring about their image too much.
Sixty
Congress should worry about saving the damn country first, rather than worrying their dumb asses over the Internet and it's daily business. Why don't you tax breathing, while you're at it?

Tentacruel
Nintendo only did that before the release to clamp down on spoilers, afterwards they let up. And God forbid they actually cut spending to get out of debt. Let's just fire teachers. >_>
Î’yakuya
It would be chaos when this bill would pass. Really, you can't jail thousands of people who are still willing to make sh***y AMVs and opening/end anime or other songs and such. You can't stop what's on the Internet, and it's impossible to remove it nor come against it.........*gets out Death Note and the list of the HoR and Senate representatives*

bury the year
According to Sherwin Siy of Public Knowledge, past attempts to limit copyright infringement online by way of blocking domains have always generated criticism that blocking domains would fracture the Domain Name System (DNS) and threaten global functioning of the Internet, with this bill being no different. Ideally, all domain name servers world-wide would contain identical lists; with the changes proposed, servers inside the United States would have records different from their global counterparts, making URLs less universal. Five Internet researchers, Steve Crocker, David Dagon, Dan Kaminsky, Danny McPherson and Paul Vixie have issued a whitepaper suggesting that the DNS filtering provisions in the bill "raise serious technical and security concerns" and would "break the Internet", while other engineers and proponents of the act have called those concerns groundless and without merit.
From Wikipedia. So this bill apparently will break the Internet.
