Discuss your opinions on torture and interrogation. I'm personally against it. Also, please keep any lolfauxnews to yourself. That's a whole different discussion people. To keep this thread from flopping into a mess of spam, let's keep it in the context of military/government interrogation.

You people are missing the flaw with using torture during interrogation. Sure, it can be used against terrorists, but there is the chance that they might catch an innocent person for whatever reason (military and the government can f*** up, too), torture said person, and said person ends up confessing to whatever the interrogators were questioning him / her about.

This

Also, he (Jesse Ventura) has a point

all that sort of torturing does is allow the person doing the torturing to get what they want to hear

Like the salem witch trials? Or the First and Second Red Scare's?
Everyone accuses the other one of terrorism for personal gain and the whole thing blows up out of proportions...

So sometimes they falsely confess, you're saying they still never speak the truth anyway

That's not what he was saying at all man. ._. He was saying that people will confess to whatever they've been accused of to not be tortured anymore.

And that means nothing, Xander.

There's two things you fail to factor in.

1. Once you tell your torturer that, you're at the guy's mercy. He may choose to keep torturing you for the hell of it.

2. Even if your torturer will truly keep his word, how's he supposed to know you've really told him everything you know? To that extent, he'll keep the torture going until he's firmly convinced himself.

Don't those points just completely go against your entire argument of why torturing was somewhat acceptable?

Interrogation I'm perfectly fine with, as long as they have the correct people doing the job. Everyone knows the kind of person that I should be talking about, the people who get in your head really easily and start messing with you until you spill whatever the hell they want. Torture is a big no no. The physical injuries you can get from torture can often be permanent and, even if said person is guilty or holding the information you would like to acquire, we are all welcome to rights as we are all human beings.

So all in all you just make another 2 points on why torture is bad.
