So I'm going to this thing. A religious thing in Atlanta, but that's besides the point. Admission is like $200, and my attendance has been paid for through donation by people from my church who are for the most part quite poor. Point being, I kind of have to go.

I'm going to be out of town on the first day of class next term. Gonna miss the first day of Trig, which sucks major ass.

My teacher's response when I explain?

"Don't miss the first class."

Reminds me of one of my friends back in high school, got in a car accident on the day of the finals

Suffered a broken right arm, nothing too major or anything like that, but had to miss the AP Physics final for that.

Professor gave her a 0% for that, under the reason "Well that's your problem for not being ambidextrious"

Did he actually say that or are you exaggerating? I couldn't believe someone would be that unreasonable and harsh.

No he actually DID say that. His motto is "The world is full of unreasonable monsters, get used to it."

If I was your friend, and someone actually gave me a 0 on a final exam because of something that was out of my control, I'd be very tempted to strike them with my good arm. [s]I may also say" Who's ambidextrous now bi-atch?"[/s]

My sister was lucky when she was going through her GNVQ/A Levels they were nice enough to give her a score reflective of the work she'd done because she had to miss exams (or was in too much pain to do them). Basically she'd been in pain because of a blood clot in her leg. (She has it under control now, and it's cause is only in her leg).

I've probably had several, but can't remember them for some reason.

This is nowhere as major as the above, but in secondary school (read grades 7-9) our Math was divided into Easy, Medium and Hard. I had been going on Medium throughout most of the years, but since the class were starting to fill up and I got a slightly higher score than passing grade on a national test, I was moved up to Hard. The problem? This was almost end year, and the teacher we had in Hard didn't have enough to go on to give me anything higher than passing grade. Hell, he even said that I likely could have gotten higher grades if I had changed earlier. I might have had a chance to get up to higher grades if I had stayed in medium.
Sorry if this is confusing or not worth mentioning.

It was more along the lines of poor communications between the two teachers (read: next to non-existant).
Another little anecdote: My brother is going in Hard class in said Math class and has worse grades than a lot of people in Medium, even though they were already reading Math from higher grades, which they aren't even graded in because it isn't part of their basis of assessment. He is also fairly good at Math.

College professors are d***s. They've already got your money, and you have to follow what they say or else they kick you out, end of story.

That's what I had to deal with with half my college professors, who's motto is "you're all destined to live the gutters when you're adults"
