So Gravekeepers were never considered budget outside duality?
Or Dragunities and their Structure?
You can easily be tier 2 without toptier stuff.

Well yes, but the player without the toptier cards is much less likely to win. What I'm trying to say: Yugioh values Money first over player skill, while they're both important in Yugioh. Other card games focus on player skill first, then a fair amount of money(I can buy an entire pokemon deck for the cost of a playset of rabbit, for instance. I mean a Toptier deck. Yanmega Prime is like £35, but still it'll be booted eventually.) Yugioh needs to be less afraid of booting cards from the format. The way they seem to solve problems is by making cards better than the problem which makes an even bigger problem when they should just boot it from the format. There are budget decks in YGO, granted: but they never seem to make a huge impact and are never a "Cheap way to play the game" It's mostly the player's fault for pricing things so damn expensive, but you can't deny Konami tries it on to make cards expensive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Max price for any card should be £15.

Mixed feelings on this. I sell cards frequently so the high prices are actually really awesome (if you pull it) because then you can profit massively. But at the same time, the money cards are almost needed for competitive play (to stand any chance of winning, anyway), so it's a no-win situation.

At least Gold Dualities will be real nice.

I don't see how this is Konami's fault for card prices. They don't make the profit, do they? They don't set the prices, right? In fact they really have no interaction with the transaction at all. If Konami did start selling singles then we could complain.

Making cards secret rare and overpowered is just asking for price drama.

They don't care, and they shouldn't have to. Making good cards more rare just makes it more of an impact that "Hey! This card here is good!". Everyone likes to have their deck 'blinged' out. Also, ever think that they rarity bump on purpose? I mean it makes sense, it raises the prices and might make kids buy the packs themselves.

If you look at it from there view they are doing nothing wrong or unjust, its only when you add in the singles market/second hand selling does it become a problem. It may be a trading card game, but the trading part isn't the company's problem.

Rescue Rabbit made me lose all faith in konami.

Dude, Rabbit's not even that bad. It started out at $100 and is approaching the $65 range now. Once it's been out for a few months, it won't be that expensive at all. Sure, that's still a lot to shell out for a single card, but it's going down. The only reason prices are so high is because when they're new, everyone wants them.

The one thing I never understood though is TGU, because that's just ridiculously high-priced and the pack's even been reprinted.

Rabbit isn't a bad card per-se. It gives Normals a place in the meta game. However, giving it all those useful abuse tools wasn't smart. If they just thought about the impact a little and added "This card cannot be Special Summoned" then everything would be fine.

They are/were promoting their new mechanic with Rabbit, and they're doing an overall better job than with Synchros, imo.
