I'm not butthurt, I've just lost faith in the mod team. I mean it's sorta stupid, don't you think...?

As have I.

And @evilfusion: Being a killjoy comes with the job. You're not an a****** because you're carrying out orders. There is a difference. And anyone butthurt about their ban, coming from that reason, has no real reason to complain. Again, you'd just be doing your job.

Though my definition of a moderator is one who carries out punishment with no remorse and no personal interference. A robot. Obviously Miror and the others ( Cifer, etc. ) are not robots, and therefore any faith I'd place in them is pretty moot in the first place. I think the one mod I've always liked as a mod is Icy, and we all know how he is.

But, again, this is a joke. An absolutely f***ing retarded joke, but a joke. Everyone, pipe down. I think most of YCM has had enough of it.

*Points to mods.*

You, too.

I think, out of everything I've seen in this thread so far, I can agree with this the most.

Funny how nobody has ever complained that the moderation staff isn't robotic enough when we set up those holiday events over the last several years. What, did you think those were YCMaker's doing?

Anyone can set up a holiday event, Crab Helmet. Anyone. I'm not complaining that the staff isn't robotic enough- well, technically, yes I am- but there is a point where one needs to draw the line. Handing out bans for no reason, at any time, is an abuse of power. Even if it's intended as a joke, it's still an abuse of power. I made a comparison to an officer throwing someone into jail, and someone said that there were laws against that.

Then again, this is the internet. This is a forum. This is not a democracy. Am I taking this too seriously? Probably. What does my word matter? Squat, actually. Without an admin, who is here to keep the mods in check? No one. Tough s***, I guess.

...so apparently, people will be butthurt for this for a long time.

Mission accomplished.

Seriously ._.

Pretty much why we can't have more fun stuff like this happen on YCM.

Everyone and their mother gets butthurt.

Oh are you still going?

And it's Rag. If I don't get angry at him, YCM really will terminate.

I agree with everything you're saying, so I don't want to give you that impression, but that's essentially the definition of what it's like to be a boss.

Good plan, doing now.

Wraith, Wraith, Wraith, you need to learn when you can get what you want and when you can't

In other news, the mod team's forfeited any means of justifying future warns/bans for trolling. Go crazy.

PS: Yankee was always worse than Bloodrun. Bloodrun wasn't even that bad, he just pissed people off by using way too many commas.

Lol, Polaris talking as if mods actually need any justification. Tbh, the fact that we give people reasons for bans is a privilege to the members.

YCM has always been a dictatorship. Never a democracy. Of course, I'm not saying I support random bans all the time. I'm just telling you that you're wrong.

Nobody needs to justify doing anything, but lack of justification leaves your motives very much open to interpretation, interpretations that may or may not be damning in the sight of people who are generally against a given motive. From there suspicion as to whether you're suitable in your position accelerates to the point where people equally or more powerful than you are turned against you. The potential for dissonance among the mod team has been exploited in the past and will be again.

Even if the mod team should be in general agreement to do what the member base would find objectionable, there're still differences in the conviction to these principles for each individual mod that can be amplified to the point where sufficient dissonance can be realized for having certain principles reversed. From that point consequences can result for whichever side evokes less support. With the members so heavily outnumbering the moderators, it's naive to assume they'd always have negligible influence in shaping individual moderators' principles.

Whether the denial of service is legal or not is immaterial so long as powers opposed to the denial of service sufficiently overwhelm the powers in favor of the denial of service to assign consequences to the perpetrators of the deemed offense as a legal system would. The "all 100% legal" thing is just thrown in to make those opposed to the denial of service appear ridiculous in their bawwing, when in actuality members of YCM can perfectly reasonably denounce you for your actions.

As an extreme hypothetical example of how bad the consequences could be should outrage at being banned for two hours reach a high enough plateau, the FBI could be among the people you pissed off and could track you down and murder your family. Obviously, this won't happen and I'm just using this scenario for shock value, but it should reinforce my point that consequences are assigned based on the difference in support between two conflicting ideas within a given power construct, not necessarily the law.

The majority of the members were banned for a few minutes when we saw that they were online, though there were a few exceptions who were accidentally banned more than once.

The whole thing was agreed on by all the mods actually, the ones who didn't were the inactive ones. But everyone liked the idea and was more or less pulling on the same blade, though evilfusion was pleading for more control and to make sure that everyone who was banned got unbanned immediately afterwards. Which is what happened, although the control part wasn't perfect. That's just to say that the difference between conflicting ideas within a given power constructs weren't as large as one may think, at least not last night. They can be larger on different matters.

(My personal little pleasure would've been to be banned myself, which unfortunately didn't happen, but that's another story.)

I do realize now that it went mushy when one of the members we banned was doing something important when the hammer came and at least another person was banned several times and longer than the others. That happened because we weren't updating the lists of the members we banned quickly enough and that was really a bad thing.

EDIT: Well, I also did ban members who had seen the whole thing and were posting stuff like "lol everyone is banned, I'm invincible, they won't get me!!" in their status bars. Namely ❤ Lovely Warrior ❤, 101100111000 and Kashiwazaki Sena, but it was obvious that at least Lovely Warrior took it as a joke.

(lol she and Lilly Satou were even joking about the cupcakes they made with my corpse lol)

It did blow out of proportions at some point, but the idea was good and it was a spontaneous twirl 'planned' a bit more than one hour before it happened, which is probably why it didn't go exactly as expected.

^ My views on it, no guarantee for correctness.=/

Well Relius, I banned you.T_T At least for the first few minutes.

We all made lists about the people we banned and decided to take people who either knew about the whole thing and would warn all the other trolls, or people who were involved into the whole "our god is coming" thing.

But I didn't know about what you were just doing before, so I apologize for that.

From what I've heard on sertain parts of this topic, do I take it that I'm considered some sort of "big member"? :3

I'm one of the many that's annoyed by the event.

Though for some reason, looking my username in that list sorta made me feel better (yeah, weird) xD

I'm still irritated by it, and probably will be for a while, but I must admit that most of us had no real concequenses from the aftermath, and therefore, probably no reason to really still be complaining.

I don't think many complainers here by now have a real idea of what they want to get out of this thread by continuing this ranting... including me.

btw, if each of you had a list of people, how come Miror mentioned Shard being banned by like, 3 mods? [/just curious]

The main reason this happened was because certain members of the mod team feel that their actions are without consequence. This type of mentality is wrong because of the nature of power struggles that will ensue if they continue to pull this sort of nonsense. Recognizing these sorts of incidents for what they are can prevent a lot of drama and vexation in the long run.

That explains a lot.

Well, it was to be expected considering there wasn't much time to prepare.

I actually thought it was mindless banning from everyone in sight at the time it was happening. It was until after everything went back to normal that I found out that this was actually organized (to some degree).

It was merely a message to take them seriously, I accept that
