ragnarok1945
big deal, this was the case in the late 1890s by 1905ish, it was reckoned that 1% of all US companies held 90% of the power. This was why Marx's theory became popular in the US back then too for communist revolution

Mehmani
By nature, Communist countries are one-party states, so Communism is impossible in a democratic society. The closest thing would be Socialism, which taxes the rich heavily so that everyone is more equal money-wise. Just to clear things up: > Cuba: Was a Communist country, and worked out pretty well. > North Korea: Is a hereditary Confucianist necrocracy/theocracy, as it is technically run by a dead person (Kim Il Sung, "President for Eternity") and leader worship is the religion. > Soviet Union: Stalinism, which is Fascism - those cream of the crop at the top get everything and everyone else has very low but equal wealth. Didn't work out, obviously. EDIT: Brilliant article called "The Revenge of Karl Marx", written after the recent global financial crisis. Check it out. Marxist theory is excellent for analysing economic situations, and was indeed way, way ahead of its time.

Don't forget, the guy abused his power in the Vietnam War to lie to the public and everything. When the public found out, they all went nuts, accused him of power abusing and all that. They weren't exactly wrong there about it. And it was from that point on that public trust in the government plunged. Why do you think today people feel government people are liars? CDDRodrigo
Communism doesn't work, never did, and not a single modern nation (I'm counting since 1700) achieved it, because Russia, China, North Korea and Cuba (main examples) only ever reach Socialism. Because people are naturally greedy. Communism needs a commandant to organize everything. That commandant is also a person. Do you really except the COMMANDANT to live in the same conditions as everyone else? Not on Earth.
Sunshine Jesse
Because people are naturally greedy. Communism needs a commandant to organize everything.
none of that is true the problem with Communism is that it'd require a complete social upheaval to work, much like anarchy. it's not impossible by the nature of humans, we're just not used to it. humans are self-serving, this is true, but if we were conditioned over time to believe that the best way to serve one's self is to serve the community as a whole then communism would actually work. the one lazy a******/weakest link that people keep speaking of wouldn't be an issue and he'd just be expelled from society. people have trouble comprehending the possibility of communism because it's the literal opposite of what we've been conditioned to do and think all these years. just my two cents

Northern Sage
How about direct democracy? Yes, it still needs organization, (everything needs organization of some sort, duh) but it's entire structure is based around no one being the supreme ruler. Yogg-Saron
I've seen the same crap come out of General for what, over 5 years? This is no different than anyone else that supports Communism. Maybe they should make a National Communist Yugioh Childrens Card Game Forum Club or something. Not trying to flame though, if that's what it seems like it is.
