An Ideal Format

Recommended Posts

One where OTKs are too inconsistent to be desirable.

One that encourages diversity beyond 3-4 decks.

One where it isn't a necessity to run certain, potentially cloggy cards.

One that encourages thought and skill above all, and the smarter player usually wins more than the player who swarmed with giant monsters with ease.

I have a dream.

I think this sort of sums it up,idgaf about a 42 deck format if all the decks are wind ups inzektors or w/e,but i'd be happy with a tier 0 goat format replica.

Also,i'd say april 2004( i think) and march 2010 pre-TSHD were good.

I put in doubt the level at which Side Deck is needed.

-Ideally speaking, a bad match-up shoudn't happen that often, and you should just have the necesity of siding when that certain Deck screws with your theme too much.

-It's being used more to store badly designed Deck killers like "Light Imprisoning Mirror" against most other common meta-decks of the moment, wether they are a "bad match-up" or not. Mainly because Meta Decks are bad enough that such a bad concept is needed to survive.

^part of the structure of an ideal format.

I agree with the king of YCM. This is what needs to happen.

I can't really argue with that. My only addition would be a format that actually requires some effort to bring out the real boss monsters. "Starlight Road" irks me to no end, which is ironic because I'm trying something similar with these (http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/287757-ultios-scary-latin-quick-spells/). Remember when it actually took a few turns to bring out something beastly? I'm a product of that generation.
