First off, i know my body as shield protect your monster from destruction and this doesn't specifically, but they both protect monsters and that's the comparison. Anyway, this was a card i entered into a contest and i'm like, might as well post it.... so yeh..... comments plz

Last format teached me that your opponent always will try to get rid of your Spell/Trap Cards before your monsters whenever given a choice. Which is the reason My Body as a Shield doesn't see much play.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'm bashing this card. It is an interesting consept.
If I had to point to something: Do you need to have the token die at the end? I mean, I've been thinking, and most situations that occured to me would kill the token anyways, but still.

Anyways, the card is good. I'm trying to search for any cards that require your own targetting and destroying of something, looking if there is a benefit for cheating them with this card with decent benefits... hmm...

I like the concept of your card as it does cause your opponent to practically waste a card. However, the idea of giving the token any kind of stats is kinda pointless since it dies after the card effect resolves. Other than that, this card seems to be good, however if this became real i feel that Konami's Format-hammer coming down on it.

Thx for the comment, but care to explain >.<

When I refer to "Konami's format-hammer" I am trying to explain the many possibilities this card has for being used in the meta as well as just YGO in general and that Konami will hit it so you couldn't use 3. Since the card states "The token is destroyed after the card effect resolves," this does cause your opponent to waste a card/effect for just a loss in either hand or field presence in your case (depending on which players' turn it is). This card is capable of many things like stopping that last DAD and Hyperion pop, BLS and CS banish, and Lance/Robe ATK deduction among a few possibilities. What I am getting to is that this card is not broken, but it will become broken in today's meta game such as other popular cards like Rescue Rabbit and Tour Guide of the Underworld, as they were not intended to be broken but players discover combos and ways to make them broken.

I hope this helps you understand, if not I'll try again when I get the chance.

The thing is, DAD and Hyperion will mostly destroy this face-down card before even thinking about destroying the monster this card would protect. Lowering this card from "OMG awesome protection" to, ok levels. Many other Decks have those kinds of destruction that will get rid of the backrow first. Gravekeepers, Madolches, Lightsworn, Darkworld, etc. That is something to consider here.

OCG Fix:
Activate when a non-Token monster you control is targeted by your opponent's card effect: Special Summon 1 Covershield Token (Beast-Type/LIGHT/Level 1/1000 ATK/1000 DEF) in Defense Position and change the target of your opponent's card effect to the Token. After your opponent's effect resolves: Destroy the Token.

I actually really love this card. It's clever but if anything it's mainly MST-bait which isn't exactly a bad thing. Get's by Lances, Chalices, Fiendish Chains, G-Sparks and the likes. The art is amazing by the way.

My first thought was Machina Fortress when targeted by a monster. Altough the targeting is being redirected, Machina Fortress should still activate, right?

It is, and to tell the truth, I don't really know what happens in that case.
I know what happens when a target is negated, but I have no idea if the fact Machina Fortress being originally targetted when the target is changed, actually makes it do it's effect.....

He is talking about changing a targetting towards Machina Fortress, with your card's effect.

Its really a better version of the card Shift isn't it? Only in this case you make your own target for the effect. Personally I think that the above statements are the most accurate. This a real backrow hating format and only in the rarest of instances will it be so beneficial. I can't really see it being the epic protection card some make it out to be.
