Darj
A friend decided to play with Gustos and to my surprise I have a hard time dealing with them. I cannot see why they are not Tier 1. I don't run meta Decks myself, and I do lose against DWs and HEROs, but I do pretty well against Six Sams so my Decks shouldn't be that bad, perhaps Tier 2. And then Gustos manage to stand against them and even claim victories. (All this is on DN). How should I deal against a "Gusto" Deck when I am not siding any banishing card (as the Graveyard is used my Deck) nor Necrovalley? - Attacking seems pointless because the monsters Summon each other in a cycle, and when the opponent gets enough "Gustos" in the Graveyard then generates advantage with Caam, Contact with Gusto, etc. while recycling the floaters. - But if I don't attack, then the opponent itself will send the "Gustos" to the Graveyard by Synchro Summoning and proceed to activate the recycler cards. - Because some "Gustos" activate when send to the Graveyard, mass removal cards such as Torrential Tribute and Dark Hole are sometimes useless and in a few cases even advantageous for my opponent. - No big monster I Summon is safe because "Gustos" can use 3 "Creature Swaps" consistently as most of the time they will have at least 1 "Gusto" monster on the field. OR they Summon their Boss Monster "Daigusto Sphreez" and start ramming the floaters on my monster to inflict Battle Damage. Discuss Gustos: Their position in the Metagame and how to play around them. ihop
Sidedeck this card- Or just play removal cards such as Bottomless, D Prison and Compulsory. Aerion Brightflame
Simply, you hit the right recylcer with the right effect. Since irc one of them only gets it when destroyed by battle. Or just banish them, they hate it. Mind you, Tele-Gusto is quite a fun deck. Not amazing, but it can be quite great. Especially once the WIND spiritual lord comes out assuming he'll be any good. That, and if you can run it Dark Highlander. To strong for them to run over, and stops there big guns from hitting the field. Even the creature swap doesn't help greatly against it. Wildflame
You just..., play against them and beat them. They are not that awsome im my oppinion. If you REALLY have trouble against them, you should try running Macro Cosmos, it nullifies their searchers. Also, Bottomless/Warning their Sphreez before you get OTKd. Darj
Wow, thanks for the suggestions. I did swap my 2 Torrentials for Bottomless. Mirror Force isn't bad idea either but it would still activate the effects of a few Gustos. Banisher of Radiance and Fossil Dyna convinced me: I can get rid of them when I want to stop their effects. Dark Highlander is not a possibility because the Deck I speak of is a Solid Machine-Type. I don't want to resort to "Poisonous Winds" because it is too specificic and barely affects other Decks. Aerion Brightflame
That's actually a crazy idea in a Gusto deck tbh. I mean, aside from Tornado what other stuff actually wouldn't get touched by the statue?

DL
I like this topic Gusto being my favorite Archtype, I know very well how good they can be And I know why they are not Tier 1 They are great at both defense, and attack, and they have great skill But a simple King Tiger Wanghu will EVISCERATE them. If Wynnda's effect activated when she was destroyed by battle, period, not destroyed by battle with an attacking monster, however Gusto could very well be Tier 1 Since you could then just get out Sphreeze, use the Gusto's own Monster Reborn to recycle 2 cards and get either Gulldo, Wynnda, or Egul out, then procceed to just ram them into something in the classic Gusto loop. Gusto can be really dangerous, especially with support from Junk Synchron and Doppel, which makes them Synchro Summon MUCH more, and with much more variety (even letting them get out Quasar for example) But, they have plenty of weaknesses too IMO Major strengths: GREAT defensive capability (in their recycling) Good ability to Synchro Summon Ability to stall (and thus possibly make a comeback) if you are losing, just by drawing a simple Gulldo, Egul, or Wynn (or a s/t to get one of them out) Due to the Gusto like Gulldo or Skwirl that like being destroyed by effects, destruction effects against them can sometimes backfire Major weaknesses: Physically weak, when it comes to non-synchros Synchros need a non-tuner Gusto (Wynnda is usually a nice choice here, and easily accessible, but it's still a downside) Play Necrovalley, or King Tiger Whaghu, and they are NOTHING. The third one, being the biggest flaw, by far. They can be shut down badly by stuff like that :T

If this card is Summoned in this way, send 1 "Gusto" monster you control to the Graveyard. Once per turn, you can [Cost X]: [Target Y]; [Do Z]. 2300ATK / 2000DEF
THEN you could get away with mooching off their effects, for a larger profit. DL
...lolBosscardguy~ I believe, the cornerstone of Gusto, is Gulldo, tho that should be obvious, since he can activate wether destroyed by battle, or card effect One time I set a Gulldo and a Skwirl My opponent used Dark hole I was happy ~

My point was that the player can populate his Graveyard by himself in order to activate Contact, Caam, etc. When I first faced Gustos, I thought in not attacking at all to avoid sending monsters to his Graveyard, but eventually Gusto monsters will end in the Graveyard so I would be only delaying the inevitable.
This is true They will get to the graveyard regardless~ Interestingly enough however, you shouldn't have TOO many of their recycle cards 1-2 of each I'd say Since no opponent is stupid enough to keep attacking and populating your Grave with different Gusto so you can USE the recycle cards

And of course, the decks that DO have sides against it, can easily kill it second duel :T Also, there's a WIND pack coming out?
