One question about Exodia. Since I don't understand the listing, does it mean it's impossible to have all 5 pieces in a deck? If so then why not just ban the head and unlimt the other pieces. I mean the same logic is being used with BLS & Primal Seed.

I am assuming that it means you can have ALL of the Exodia limbs as your Special Limited.

Yes. Since for next tournament, there will be 2 lists of limited cards, you can only use one of each list.
So you can only use 1 of the 5 pieces, (or 2 if they are distributed among both lists, but why would they?)
So yes, it's impossible to have all 5 in this format.

The change you talk about would not have much of an impact, because either way it'd be unusable.
The only thing I can think about is using the random limbs for Level 1 Normal monster Decks and the such... but, weird xD

I wholeheartedly disagree with the banning of Black Luster Soldier (in this format, I would love to see it done in Advanced, mind you). In my oppinion, banlists should exist to balance out competitive play. Has BLS seen any sort of play in this format so far?, I think not. 90% of the times there is something more useful to run. Sure it's a power card, but so is Dark Hole. An unnecesary move.

I'd agree, for example, on a Semi/Limiting of Karakuri Shogun Burei, since it's a card that has proven its worth in the current metagame of the format.

Well, I say you are right in Exodia, but I'm not sure about Primal Seed, because Wildflame has a point.
I personally have ruled BLS out many times for more staple-like Limited cards.

It still doesn't change the fact that BLS is a 1-card out for all sorts of situations. And if we can have both Honest AND BLS, then my Watt deck has an OTK right there. A 2-card OTK, as long as my opponent has a monster with 2000 ATK or more. Other than that, it's almost an OTK.

I know I haven't been with this project at all, so I don't know how the decks work, but I have read this entire thread and I may have some valid ideas.

I'm all for the re-banning of BLS. In a format where Extra Deck monsters have summoning sickness, main deck monsters hold a great amount of power. This much power, however, seems completely ridiculous.

I kinda don't like Exodia being legalized. If I remember correctly, Exodia decks didn't need any limited cards anyway - the only thing this format does is make them a lot less consistent by semi-ing their draw engine and then they'll be a bit more about stalling. In such case, Exodia sounds like it will be an unfun troll deck to face.

How about Special Unlimiting Des Frog? Des Croaking and D.3.S. Frog both require 3 Des Frog, which seems to be the general use for the special unlimited list currently.

I have been on both sides of BLS - Envoy of the Beginning for quite some time now, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it's a broken card that can be splashed very easily. My Watt deck only ran 3 DARK monsters, but because of Xyz, I could ALWAYS summon BLS. I feel it should be banned.

Chaos was better when it was Chaos Sorcerer. BLS has no right to be in this or any other format, as far as I am concerned. Sorcerer is only at 1 because of BLS and because of Justice of Prophecy. BLS also has support in the form of Warrior Returning Alive, and it has Honest, which as I stated before, is an OTK engine.

I don't see your point tbh.

BLS is a pack of bannable offences together.
Stupidly easy Summoning conditions, made even easier because the Extra Deck exists Which for it's stats, is stupid.
3000 ATK multi-attacker.
Hability to banish any monster regardless of anything.
Finally, more than broken by just design, it's also broken in practice.

Chaos Sorcerer is more balanced, and ironically more versatile in most decks, so it's a win-win when choosing.
Sorcerer is mainly really limited because BLS is around.
It's banish effect gives more thought when going around it, while the only way to really go around BLS is to kill it...

My personal take would be to ban BLS, as long as you unlimit Sorcerer xD *opens umbrella in antisipation for tomatoes*




As for Exodia: Since in this format, it's win condition purpose is impossible, either way makes no difference in that sense.
That said, between banning the head and unlimiting the rest OR keeping everything as is, I'd say it's more benefical to ban the head and unlimit the rest. That way you have the option to tech the limbs for the potential utility of being vanillas, of their Level, Type, Attribute, etc. The decks that might use it will probably be stupid, but hey the option of using it would still be there, and that's always a plus for the fun factor of the game.

Though unlike IRL formats, it might not really cause as much havoc, not that it really does as consistently IRL. So I'm not actually sure the third option is that far-fetched. Of course, the deck itself is not fun to play against, what are the reedemable qualities it has? and why should someone take the risk to begin with if the only options are "un-fun" and "bad"?

As for the changes in the list.
I'd say we don't have to release a finished work all of a sudden. If making the few changes that you are already surely dedided on can only be benefical, what should stop you from limiting/semi-limiting/unlimiting/banning those few choices you already have?

It should be good to show what the enviroment is and we won't have to make so many guesses of the bigger picture afterwards.

And also, there are ways to keep it in game with it's effects but still balance it. Why not just give it a clause were it can't attack or use it's effect the turn it gets summoned?
